Maintaining a swimming pool

Postby Selena79 » Mon Oct 04, 2010 4:12 pm

Anyone has a rough idea how much does it cost to maintain a swimming pool on a yearly average? Water, electricity, medicine etc....

Thanks a lot

(pool is like a medium one, 4 meters by 8 meters, 2 m deep)

(Also: looking for property to rent in Nicosia, would be glad to get some numbers of reliable and trustworthy agents. Thanks!)

tablets for the pool either you or your pool man buy every couple of months it casts about 24 euros and medium prices for pool cleaning is 70-80 euros a month , once you fill the pool with water you add water up every couple of days in the summer cause the heat drys the water so once you fill it in with water it wont cost you a lot when it comes to water , in a roughly guess it will cast you about a grand a year to maintain your pool

Hi Selena

It is hard to quantify how much a pool will cost to run; partly it depends upon hoiw exposed it is to the sun and wind, alos your elevation (ambient temperature).

I would guess chemicals (Chlorine, PH+/-, algicide and floculent) cost about €200pa, you will need to run the pump for, say, 6-8 hours a day in the summer and 4 hours in the winter, then there is the testing kit etc.

I have had pools in this country and in one where it requierd to be heated; all I will say is that if you attempt to cost/justify a pool, you would not bother. However, to be able to dive in at 2am on a hot summer night is priceless.

thanks Svetlana! very helpful. the reason why asking is because the landlord offered to take over the maintaining of the pool in a house to be rented and was wondering how much that would mean in the renting price! So again: thanks!

Sounds like you should, not only, ask your landlord in advance how much he will charge, but also get it drawn up in the tenancy agreement.
