The Cyprus problem is a relic of the Cold War

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Obviously a liar, a hypocrite AND a Hellenist! There's a few of those on here!

What is it about GCs that they seem to believe every word their politicians say?

Most other countries wouldn't trust their politicians as far as they could throw a grand piano - they ASSUME they lie. Here in Cyprus, they hang on their every word! Big Mak said it - it must be true. Pres Chris said it - it's the gospel truth.

Then, if anything they don't like is reported to have been said by them - they DENY it lol! Mis-reported, misquoted, twisted his words, lost in translation!

I find this quite hilarious.

In an interview given to the French magazine “Le Point” by Makarios on the 19th of February 1973

“I have struggled for the union of Cyprus with Greece, and Enosis will always be my deep national aspiration as it is the aspiration of all Greek Cypriots. My national creed has never changed and my career as a national leader has shown no inconsistency or contradiction. I have accepted independence instead of Enosis because certain external conditions and factors have not allowed a free choice…..If I had any ambitions, my greatest ambition would be for my name to be associated with Enosis.”

But anyway, there are still enough GCs around (some of them on this forum) who are insisting that Cyprus IS Greek, that it is a Greek Island and/or every GC's desire is for Cyprus to be joined forever to Greece.

YouTube is plastered with videos posted by GCs confirming all this.

He was such a Hellenist according to all these Makarios “quotes” yet in July 1974 the Greek military junta, or the mother of Hellenism if you like, came to OVERTHROW him!!!

I now call upon your intellect to explain this contradiction!

Because he was the man of previous junta leader! How naive and superficial is your comprehension, GR; r u aware?

... Ohh! I thought you were talking about TPapa who was arrested by coupists in 1974!

GR, it was neither in the interest of GC left nor in the interest of Makarios to seek union with a Greece under a fascist military rule... His collaboration with GC left and the decision to postpone the Enosis policy after Greece returned to democracy made Junta mad... Especially his collaboration with GC left, the communists that far right junta was deadly hating...

Even, Ionnides had a paranoia that Makarios and his "crew" were plotting against him!

Wait a minute… you proudly post all these alleged “Makarios quotes” to expose his FERVENT support and yearning for Enosis yet when it comes to explaining why Enosis came to depose and kill HIM, this load of rubbish about the left and the right is your reply?

Well here’s my reply to you:

Go to mommy, take out bosom, drink plenty milk, come back and try again!

So Insan’s answer is…. read this book!

You're just too clever!

Here's another one for you Insan... one you cannot wiggle out of so easily with your usual "left and right" bullshit!

“Le Point” magazine has always been a French magazine. It has NEVER been issued in English, so where did you get that "Makarios" quote from?

Where’s your link to this magazine quoting Makarios?

The same goes for GASFARTS!

There are 176 pages full of similar quotations by Makarios and other Enosist including the one quoted by Gasman in the below linked document which has been circulated as an official UN document on an official UN website.

Why don't you READ it first?

"OFFICE OF THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE TURKISH FEDERATED STATE OF CYPRUS"

That's the former name of the "TRNC"!

It's a submission by Denktash.
