Color Printers

Postby DANGAMAN » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:33 pm

Hi, I have had an all in one: fax - scanner - printer - copier for just over a year.

I do not use it very often. The problem is, at first the color ink cartridge was not working... now the black ink cartridge is also not working. Yes there is ink in both cartridges and I have tried the maintenance tool on the printer.

Any ideas how to fix it, as it has only been used a dozen times.

Also what are your views about refill ink cartridges.

Thanks in advance.

Same problem here... :x

I'd imagine it would cost more to repair than it is worth...

The trick with printers is to buy the most expensive you can afford...

If you buy cheap they claw the money back on expensive ink... and, as you have found, they're not reliable...

My only experience with refill cartridges is that I ended up covered in ink and buying new, original ones...

Clean the copper 'electrodes' with white spirit or ethanol/Zivania. Mind you if the printer is not used often enough, they will dry eventually, but I never had this problem.

Get an old rag and wipe the clotted ink buildup off the cartridge nozzles. You may have to do the same on the printer end where the cartridge makes contact. Reinsert, then run your cartridge cleaning software tool.

Avoid refills… they’re a waste of money and will trash your printer from spillage and/or poor quality ink. The ink has to be of a certain density and mix for the pump to work properly and refills are never right.

 Electronic contact pads should be cleaned with an eraser not liquids.

You can also do that to your TV remote control when the buttons stop working. Give the pads a good rub, blow/wipe away the residue and it’s nice and shiny again making perfect contact!

One of these chubby, white, soft ones work best...

 I thought that was an eraser but it turns out it's a delete button off a keyboard!
