Our only hope is the EU. Hope comes at a price. The Greeks are paying. We just want the Turks off Cyprus!

Too bad the E.U are all in the NATO, including Greece.

How about mother Russia?

She's a bitch.

Compared to what? Compared to the British Pound it's much stronger than 10 years ago. Got relatively stronger compared to USD over the last 10 years, too.

It all depends on the reference point...

look here

http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=EUR&to=XDR&view=1D

this charts the Euro against the SDR, as used by the IMF, which is calculated by reference to a basket of currencies. I think this provides a better reference point than any individual currency.

From July 12 to February it achieved good growth in value against the SDR but is now heading slowly back down hill. It is however still worth more than the July 12 low point.

It is however worth a lot less that was 5 years ago: then it peaked at about 0.98048 SDR and is now at 0,85385

It's better to compare on a biweekly/monthly basis.

I have provided links to info on the Eur/SDR which I identified has been falling since 4th Feb -

see XE.com - EUR/XDR Chart
http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=EUR&to=XDR&view=1M

On 1st March it was .86412 and now is .85522.

General trend has been down -

the TL figures against SDR are worth looking at - a fall from a high of 0.54069 in August 08 down to 0.33738 in Decem 11 then sort of steady wobbling around at 0.368 or so,
