The British (under orders from USA) invited the Turks into Cyprus! Britain and USA want to remove Europe from the power equation. Greece and Cyprus have invested too much into the EU which is the only friendly power they can ally with to help remove the negative influence (which still continues) of the Brits and USA which keep Turkey anchored in Cyprus!

Our only hope is the EU. Hope comes at a price. The Greeks are paying. We just want the Turks off Cyprus!

In your bizarre, fantasy dreams...

Meanwhile in the real world, half the €urozone countries are in meltdown...

So the 50% euro-zone countries who are not in "meltdown" will prop up the struggling ones. Whereas the 100% of sterling-zone countries (UK) and the 100% US dollar-zone countries (USA) who are also in meltdown have no one to prop them up! The dollar will be in second place very soon.

The other half can't afford it... The cash required is just too great....

More delusions but that most deluded of people, GiG. Many thought EU entry would solve the Cyprus problem but in eight and half years the EU has done nothing but offer words - The curent freeze of certain chapters is no incentive on the TA to withdraw.
When are we going to see some worthwhile substantive action like a time limit for withdawl, or action such as a full stop on the accesion negotiations, cancellation of the customs agreements, and reciprocal sanctions by all EU states to match those imposed by Turkey on Cyprus??

The sad fact is that Turkey is possibly more important to the EU than Cyprus, as a trading partner, that is why currently the EU will continue to do little but offer words to deal with the Cyprus problems.

You're both incapable of looking towards the future.

Stuck in the mire of 1990's thinking.

mnd being stuck with 1990's thinking is probably rather better than being stuck thinking in the 3rd - 6tih century BC, or say pre 1453, ....

The once mighty Euro is heading to the toilet and I think Cyprus will pull the chain to flush it down. Expect worse to come of the Euro. This may well be the beginning of the end of the Euro and perhaps it took little ol' Cyprus to kick it's ass, with the help of the Euro master's Germany, of course!
