Jimmy Light is the man you need to contact in connection with Cornelius Desmond O'Dwyer, Jimmy was there at every event when Connor (I believe that was O'Dwyers 'Nom de Plume') embarked on his campaign to discredit EVERY vestige of Cypriot business regardless of it's function.
He was advised severally to hold his tongue and failed to do so.
He even resolved to approach the political leaders of both Cyprus and the U.K. whilst rallying a rabble of deadbeats at Alexander Park (ignored of course)............... (Jimmy excluded from the term 'deadbeats' for, although he was there taking notes, he is a 'Gentleman of the Road').
Connor DID set up camp in the street, he was closely watched by Jimmy and, as far as I know, Jimmy done quite well out of the period since he was a 'Self Appointed Spokesman' on Connor's behalf and managed to earn quite a comfortable living charging £5. 00. a time to Japanese tourists, £10. 00 to Yanks (because he didn't like what they were up to in Iraq) "The bleeders ar' arta bleedin awdar Guvna" said Jimmy, but only £1. 00 for locals since they were mostly his regular patrons.
Connor bad-mouthed the Cypriot society to such an extent that any sympathy he may have gained initially, dwindled into obscurity soon after he decamped.
Last I heard of Jimmy, he was lodging in an unoccupied house in the Kensington area, having gained access through a pantry window and has adopted the identity of a prosperous American (who owns the house but only resides there for two weeks every year) and has established himself as 'Housekeeper' which invented title has given him access to all the local tradespeople's goods, all services and amenities thereto and as much Guinness as he needs, ALL courtesy of a scheming mind and the ability to 'Con' people (more successfully than his half namesake apparently) and all at the expense of the prosperous Yank who will no doubt be somewhat less prosperous when he foots the bill for our Jimmy.
"Gaw blimey Guvna', if ol' Conna Gits bleedin' stuck fer digs, 'e kin git stuck in 'ere wiv me mate
Sadly, that is the last conversation I had with Jimmy But, now that I am in the U.K. and appointed to attend a meeting in London shortly, "I'll look the Geezer up "
