As a well-known columnist from the Financial Mirror wrote on the 16th June 2010:

“The Conor O’Dwyer case has reached such a level of international notoriety it is difficult to see Cyprus ever living it down.”

A gross exaggeration that was only echoed by the following 4 sites!

And news today of another Cypriot developer who has been causing problems for buyers.

By: Nigel Howarth
Published: October 30th, 2010

FOLLOWING the news story that we published last Sunday ‘Home buyers may lose their properties’, we understand that the Paphos developer involved has been sentenced to five months in prison for unpaid tax debts.

The developer is reported to owe the bank €3 million which has applied to the court to appoint a receiver.

But a group of property buyers are opposing this appointment as they believe that a receiver will serve the interests of the bank and they feel that there is a better solution that would not result in them losing their homes.

Like I said, those who choose the path of wrongly slandering the country will henceforth surely lose big time because the state has now been awakened…

Another report today:
73-year-old ex-British Army serviceman, who once served in Cyprus, lives in an unfinished complex in Marathounda. Its developer has gone bust and is un-contactable.

The estate may be called Paradise Hills – but life there is hellish, its handful of desperate residents say.

Plenty of people who have commented on Conor's story in all sorts of publications AGREE that this developer has brought shame on Cyprus. These crooks are bringing the whole of Cyprus into disrepute. Cyprus is probably better known for selling property to ex pats than for almost anything else!

It would serve your country better if you distanced yourself from liars, thieves and cheats instead of supporting them and cheering them on and MOCKING those they lied to, robbed and cheated.

You seem to be hell bent on trying to make people think ALL Cypriots are as bad as the crooked ones being publicised now.

Especially when you and your followers post LAUGHING about how the GCs rip off the Brits!

Might be mainly a handful of hateful nutcases posting here regularly, but there is nothing to stop those who wish to posting links to this forum to show anyone on earth what the GCs think about the Brits and what they think of the way they are being treated.

The Brits certainly aren’t buying anymore given our proven reputation for fraudulent contracts, shoddy workmanship, lack of mains services or building inspector approval, and in particular, our government’s lamentable failure to resolve the Title Deeds scandal.

the disaffected O’Dwyers, Lockharts and Jones of the ROC, are only the tip of an iceberg that will eventually sink our titanic construction industry, which is a major contributor to our Treasury in taxes levied on purchases.
