It is time that the EU tied a solution to the Cyprus Problem with Turkey's accession to the Union.

I think we cannot change the past but we can move forward. The sooner Turkey frees Cyprus the sooner she'll make it to the EU.

However, Germany and France would like to use Cyprus because they have the need to remain a little open minded despite they not want to be lol

I can't believe the Cyprus Problem is as complex not to be solved after the Union of Germany lol

Not to stray too far off-topic, but if the Brits do pull out of the bases they had better do a good job of securing the line between the north and Dhekilia before they leave. It's criminal how few warnings have been posted up there about how close to danger civilians are. Walking around Achna and Vrysoulles can be potentially lethal to anyone who isn't a local. The Turkish squaddies are practically in your face and are apt to try and abduct you over what pathetic excuse for a wire there is. At least the UN make the buffer zone clear.

Then what happens?
Don't tell us - they boil you alive in a big pot of water, over a fire, and then eat you?

You will be arrested, detained for a day or two then put on trial and fined for illegally entering what they class as a Grade 'A' Military Area! And it won't be 10 or 20 euros, more like several hundred or even a thousand......

A delightful experience,I'm sure!

It's not much fun having a rifle pointed at you at pointblank range by a beckoning Turkish soldier while you go about your lawful business in free Cyprus. I ran away and was lucky that time. And I accept the time I was taken prisoner I was treated reasonably by the Turks during interrogation, but that's because I could provide an address in the north and had a letter of introduction. So I was handed over to the TCs and was out within 24 hours. But this was not what happened to Cypriots in 1974 and since then:

Is it still in a military court or do you get civil representation these days, Martin?

So, it's just a money raising exercise, then?
Honestly, they'll do anything to squeeze money out of you in Cyprus!

...and on where you got caught!Anyone caught inside the Varosha fence is in big trouble because there is no way you can get in 'accidentally!'.If you are a G.C. then you will almost certainly be considered as a spy and sent to a military court.Foreigners and tourists are usually interrogated and then handed over to the T.C. police except in Varosha.
