HGV Class 1 british licence is a VERY proffessional licence and is recognised in any EU country but not it seems in Cyprus????
Cypriots allowed to drive in other european countries using their licences so surely it should be tit for tat.Silly of me to think anything changes Willie but thanks for the suggestion to phone and ask.

There is no problem driving with an EU license in Cyprus... however if you will stay more than 6 months on the island or intend to work as a professional driver then you must exchange your license with a Cypriot EU one

Why is that Dangaman? With free movement throughout Europe all europeans working in any other European country drive using their own driving licences.I must look into this as it seems a little a bit odd.In the UK we had a guy driving on a spanish license ,living in the UK going to Morrocco fortnightly and his license was never questioned and Morrocco certainly wasn't in the EU.

35 years ago? how was the test 35 years ago? my fathers friend took it roughly 36 years ago and said all he had to do was drive backwards and forwards and you passed, now we answer a few question before getting into the car 5 of them and you must get 3 correct at least, then drive around for a while and you pass, well at least it was 10 years ago in cyprus, i am sure its harder now

The uk training to take a hgv test then cost £500 which was about 6 months savings and certainly was not easy, there was roping and sheeting, stripping down a tilt, and a thorough mechanical knowledge of how to fix most things in an emergency, there were no night heaters or beds, you slept across the seats,no air con,you opened the windows, and a lorry driver was a "gentleman of the road" not the spoilt softies and thoughtless inexperienced idiots driving today that gives these thorough professionals a bad name.
