Eroglu missed a chance to make fools of us

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Tony-4497 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 11:37 am

This is not about refugees - it is much more importanly about PROPERTY.

When are our idiotic leaders going to get it through their thick skulls?

TC/Turks own 12% of the land in Cyprus. They want to own 30% after the solution (and 55% of the really expensive beachfront land). They have no money to pay for the difference and offer none.

No deal, end of discussion. Christofias can donate his grandfather's farm to the Turks if he wants, but not my land.

Which bit of land in London don't you want the Turks to have?

Loucas Charalambous knows the damage Christofias will do to his people when up against a person like President Eroglu...it's only a matter of time.

Loucas Charalambous is indicative of the kind of geopolitically ignorant schmuck who is running the show in the GC side. His assumption that territory is not important shows the delusion under which these people operate.

Once you accept BBF, which is a euphemism for partition then territory becomes VITAL. Only a schmuck would fail to see that in terms of territory the return or otherwise of refugees is irrelevant. Even if we had zero refugees the equitable settlement of territory between the two regions is paramount.

Additionally, the refugee problem is totally irrelevant to the properties issue. As Tony points out above, the mater has to do with property and resources. The TC side cannot manage the financial burden of the settlement they themselved propose- the retention of 30 per cent territoy and 55 per cent coastline. So they come up with hare brained schemes like the financing of compensation by the victims, Turkish guaranteed bonds and joint "development" ponzi schemes.

No government can assume the initiative of negotiating away the rights of individuals. The only legalisaion of the property issue can come through the agreement of the owners themselves. In this case owner includes the ehirs and descendants of those who were the living owners and beneficiaries in 1974.

Anyone who says that the territory, and the related property issue, is not primary is a dangerous idiot and as Balzac said (or so he is reputed to ahve said): a wanker can cause more problems than a provocator.

Nikitas is advocating that individual refugee persons should negotiate with Turkey. This is the most absurd proposal I have ever heard. Of course, Omirou beat him to it, but then Omirou, who has been part of the last 3 governments, never dared to propose such an absurdity when his proposals would carry some weight at least.

In my view, the withdrawl of the Turkish army and the majority of the settlers make up priority number one!

Bananiot .... It has been my observation that you take things out of context. I doubt that Nikitas is proposing this. The government of Cyprus needs to keep in mind how much land TC's actually own and if they want their own State, then the land released to them in any settlement should not exceed this. The rest of the State in a BBF should be made of land that belongs to GC's and those GC's who wish to live in that State. Then those GC's whose land will fall within the boundaries of that State can be either sold on the pvt market by the legal owners or should be part of the land swap and those GC's need to be given extreely good compensation for the land they will loose.

I think it is also important for the RoC government to create a register of those GC refugees who are happy to accept compensation so we know what land we are actually talking about. Perhaps whole villages might not return. People may say I want compensation for my house which a TC is occupying so they don't have to move again, but I want the land around the house returned to me and my ancestors.

ideas like yours vp smack into the ideal of aparteid, what do you mean someone can live somewhere on the island and not be able to vote, get out of the stone age and into the modern western world...

Not only are you advocating aparteid but also economic control, because even if the Gc can live in the tc constituent state they cannot buy land or start a business....this was shown and written throughout the annan plan. Regardless of not being able to vote or buy and start a business,,,,Your people are advocating that a gc living in the tc constituent state cannot take his case above the state supreme court, therefore the tc state can pass a law forbiding gc from pissing in the same toilet as the tc and the gc is powerless to fight for his/her rights

Read my other posts but do you know about the laws of San Marino, do they also practice apartied?

I totally agree with the registerpart of your post, we should know exactly how many Gcs want to return to the north or prefer to accept compensation or even exchanged land in the south submitted by willing TCs.

Who says GC's and TC's can't agree? lol

I think its important because it clears up a great deal of the unknown. Especially where people have died and ancestors are about to receive the land and may have a life in another part of Cyprus they do not wish to leave behind but still want their inheritance.
