but weed is illegal in cyprus...so you are breaking the law you fool....same as smoking in closed areas...also against the law...

and by the way after 35 years of heavily smoking weed, i don't get paranoid...only little kids get paranoid...

and as far as obama is concerned, he is the leader of the US and as milti will say the leader of the free world...

chedda wrote:Grump your responses are textbook. My grandpa smoked all his life etc etc yawn. I hope it's some consolation to you later in life. ITS SIMPLE YOUR ADDICTED AND WEAK. I can take a cigarette from a packet and light it while driving with very little distraction if not any.Talking on a phone or texting is an entirely different matter and you know it !

If you are in any doubt about your immortality or human rights i recommend a sight seeing trip to your local hospital perhaps it may put things in perspective and make you realize how fragile & precious life is.

PS i do understand the born again, holier than thou attitude of non smokers !

You two don't get it do you...?

I. Do. Not. Smoke.

You ex-smokers can't bare to believe that there are non-smokers in the world (by choice) who don't believe all the propaganda around smoking. Who believe in freedom of choice....

In your bile and aggression you can't see that the same restrictions on smokers that you think are so wonderful will be targeted on you next.

Give up smoking and switch to wine you say...? Now they wants to restrict alcohol...and you still can't see that it is the SAME arguments they are using that you use on smokers... premature death, cost to the health service... think of the cheeeldren!

Smokers first, then drinkers, now 'the obese' next anybody that puts salt on their food. Always the same arguments...

Still, I guess when you are sitting in your hospital bed having a nurse change your nappy you'll be able to look back and be pleased that you didn't die prematurely from smoking, drinking, eating burgers, putting salt on your food or taking a phone call while driving!

Okay i get it you believe in freedom, i also do, i just believe shared & public spaces should be healthy.Whatever you want you can do it at home or in private spaces. Foe example i am not homophobic but i don't like guys having sex in public toilets get it ?

Grump what is this propaganda about smoking ? It's a simple fact that the cost of healthcare now exceeds the revenue made by taxation it's simple maths or do you believe i am self righteous to think the goverment cares about our health ?

By the way i really hate fat people !

Hate is a terrible word yet it explains your position on smokers... you hate fat people and you hate smokers... I feel for you.

The problem with people like you is that you claim to believe in freedom... then in the same sentence you want smokers banned from ALL public places - even ones you would never visit. There is no half-way. ALL restaurants must be smoke free, ALL bars, ALL open spaces... Freedom is fine as long as it is YOUR freedom to chose to do and go anywhere YOU want!

Yes, I believe you are a self righteous and deluded if you really think the government cares about your health... It is all about control, not health...

The revenues from tobacco duty (in the UK at least) greatly exceed the cost to the health service of 'smoking related illnesses'...

You really need to stop believing the propaganda put out by ASH and their likes....

But you deny a tobacco smoker the right to make an 'informed decision' about their drug of choice?

And don't they mix marijuana with tobacco anyway?

The problem with the legislation as it stands is that it bans smokers from every 'public area'. Every single bar and restaurant. Even a smoking bar owner with smoking staff is banned from inviting smokers into HIS bar - even though non-smokers like yourself would be perfectly able to avoid the smoking bar and go somewhere else.

This is an intrusion on the rights of the smoker - like them or not - to consume a perfectly legal substance (from which the government takes a HUGE amount of tax) where they please.

And anti-smokers like yourself and Milti that support this legislation take us even further towards the nanny state that controls everything we eat and drink.

Okay i get it now, i do not support this legislation. Smoking areas should be provided for customers that are separate. This really cannot be too difficult in Cyprus considering it's outdoor life. Obviously things like buses etc this is not going to happen. Hospitals i believe have the right to ban smoking in their grounds and internal spaces.
I am aware that in the UK the smoking ban effectively killed the local pub and it's culture. Times are a changin' for sure it's just the end of an era. As much hate and fire you read into Milti's points i fear he is correct in the fact that emerging economies & countries do have a higher % of smokers like it or not these are the facts.
LOL i just remembered the sin bin at the airport with all the junkies like goldfish in a bowl puffing away. All those weak hooked junkies drawing in that nicotine fix ahhhhhh yeah that's it. Don't tell me it's choice and they enjoy it haha who could enjoy that experience ?
