The whole world knows the island is devised and will stay so for obvious reasons. Cyprus is a Greek island and it should have been part of the Greek state in the first place since this is what the majority of Cypriots wanted. The only reason that this didn't happen is that foreign imperialists with their troops and their settlers used force and blackmail to prevent the Cypriot people from achieving their right of self-determination and uniting, if we wanted, with the rest of Greece.

Beyond that, the Greek troops did not make any "invasion" but were part of a coup, like the many coups that happened in Turkey. Maybe another country would be excused to invade Turkey and ethnically cleanse 1/3rd of its population using one of the many coups that happened in Turkey as an excuse? That is one of the lamest excuses ever.

Both in their first invasion in 1570 when they butchered 20.000 Cypriots in Nicosia alone and then occupied Cyprus for 3+ centuries against the will of the Cypriot people, and their second invasion in 1974 when they killed 1000s of Cypriots, ethnically cleansed the native Cypriots population from 1/3rd of Cyprus and replaced them with yet more Turkish settlers.

The whites of South Africa were thinking in a similar way like you until a few years ago. They thought that just because they ruled and they oppressed the native people for centuries that this gave them the right to continue to violate the human and democratic rights of the majority of the population. Fortunately Apartheid is over in SA after many centuries of struggle by the majority of the population. We will never give up and one day, sooner or later, we will also manage to get rid of the racism and discriminations you impose on Cyprus for centuries.

With all due respect, you caused the division of the island. I know you'll turn around and deny this but this is the reality of the matter.

How else do you see a solution when the 2 communities detest one another? Lets be honest, just look at the posts exchanged between us here, can you see or feel any love or respect on these pages? I've just had a brief look and the amount of hatred is mind boggling.

I hate the idea of separation saddens me and I really want a lasting, peaceful end to this all but for the life of me cant see how its going to be achieved.

Piratis, you talk as if it was the TCs who oppressed the Cypriots. It was the Ottoman administration in Konstaniniyye/Istanbul NOT the TC's. Perhaps you would like to re-phrase your accusation. The Muslims suffered together with their Christian brothers under the Porte.

It is damaged goods, soiled thanks to its history. The international community will wipe its hands clean of it because it is damaged to the extent that no lasting repair will be possible.

The reason for this is simple. We are Cypriots and we belong here, no force on earth can take that right from us or forcibly remove us.
