On average Greeks pay €1,355 a year in bribes!

Everything related to politics in Cyprus and the rest of the world.

Is that all? :?

I pay at least twice that in Australia!

Does this mean Aussies are more corrupt than Greeks and Cypriots?

bribe teachers with gifts etc

Would you care to expand/elaborate on that? Having put three children through the UK education system from 4yrs old to graduation, I have never had to 'bribe' a teacher or lecturer or do anything remotely like that.

Bribe them to do WHAT exactly? What could you want from a teacher that couldn't be achieved without a bribe?

Better marks in tests?
Better seat in class?
Protection from bullies in the playground?
Larger portions of school meals?
Sit with the driver on a school trip? lol!
Scrapping of detentions etc?

The mind boggles!

I give "gifts" to journalists, councilors, and pollies all the time!

The joys of democracy in Australia! :D

You should see the "gifts" I gave to get my last development plans through council! 8)

Worked a treat though, since it was a bit touch and go for a little while....

I have bribed cops a dozen times in Turkey, but could never dare to do it in Cyprus.

Obviously I do not know about the Southern cops.
