First of all, the above address is about 35 miles from Köln in a very small village. Hardly an ideal location for a "consulate". What happened to Köln.??

The TRNC Honorary Consulate in the German city of Werl was targeted in an attack this morning. The attack was carried out by two masked assailants who entered into the consulate building, demanding that the TRNC flag flying in front of the building be removed.

According to information provided by the Werl Honorary Consul Dr. Kandemir Özdemir, two masked German speaking assailants on motorcycles entered into the consulate building around 9.20 in the morning, demanding that the TRNC flag flying in front of the building be removed.

The two then attacked and beat consulate staff member Hakan Keçeci with clubs, injuring him from the head and right arm.

Özdemir told the BRT newsroom that German police immediately launched an investigation into the incident.

Foreign Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has said that German police and secret service have launched an investigation into the attacks on TRNC honorary consulates in the German cities of Werl and Düsseldorf. The Foreign Minister said that the attacks on the TRNC consulates were the first of their kind.

Evaluating the attacks, Özgürgün drew attention to the great distance between the cities of Werl and Düsseldorf and said that it was too early to say whether the separate attacks were part of an organized attempt against TRNC consulates.

He said that they were waiting for the competition of the police investigation into the incidents.

Özgürgün also reminded that there are currently 5 TRNC consulates in Germany run by consuls made up of distinguished persons and businessmen who performed useful deeds for the TRNC.

Noting that German police and secret service have launched an investigation, he expressed the hope that the culprits will soon be caught and brought to justice.

The TRNC consulate in the German city of Werl was targeted yesterday as two masked men entered the consulate building demanding the removal of the TRNC flag flying in front of the building.

The two then beat consulate staff member Hakan Keçeci with baseball bats after he refused to do so.

In a separate incident on Tuesday, the TRNC flag flying at mast at the TRNC Honorary Consulate in Düsseldorf was ripped down by an unknown attacker or attackers.
