There is only one reason why Cyprob will never be solved: Turkey.

This poor excuse of a country actualy believes it has a say in the future of Cyprus, when in reality it has none.

Britain shifted the "Cyprus Dispute" from a colonial dispute to a dispute between Turks and Greeks. Made in Britian.

They should have thought of that BEFORE clamouring to join the EU.

However, were it possible for them to 'chuck the English out', I'd go along with that - as long as all the Cypriots were 'chucked out' of the UK.

What a silly suggestion!!! The British or any other citizen of an EU member state has as much right now to reside in Cyprus as a Cypriot Citizen.

The majority of brits on the Island are not trouble causers but are more than happy to live and work (or retire) in a country they love.

Of course you will always get exceptions to the rule as in any other country.

Perhaps you are suggesting that Cyprus pull out of the EU and lose the associated benefits of being a member and become an Insular state?

I don't believe the guy was referring to the actual british residents. I read it as the British rule, there is a big difference.

Of course I could be wrong???

I thought British ''Rule'' went in 1960.!!

Now if it is about British political interference then I would agree and would also suggest getting rid of Turkish and Greek interference too.

If the reference was to the bases on the island then I would also agree (no particular reason for them to be there apart from being the last reminder of colonialism) so yes get rid of them along with the other foreign nations armies on Cypriot soil.

My apologies to the poster if I misread his comments but it seemed to me he was suggesting that the Islands problem would be resolved by getting rid of British residents.
