The Cyprus Mail’s corrupt discriminatory practices...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby bsharpish » Sat Sep 11, 2010 12:28 pm

A number of us "sewage dwellers who love to display their holier-than-though colonialist, anti-Cypriot observations" have-

1.Been living here for several years
2. Invested 100's of thousands of euro's in Cypriot run business ventures
3.Have more Cypriot friends and colleagues than ex-pat
4. Tried to integrate into our chosen new home ( although i'm ashamed to say the language defeats me)

Does the fact that we are not cypriot born mean we can have no opinion on the issues ?????

Oh no... I'm just imagining things like carpetbaggers and "Turkish Cypriots" always do! It must be contagious… :?

You've got a lot of catching up to do before your "investments" reach anywhere near those made by 250,000 Cypriots in England since the 1940s...

Does the fact that we are not cypriot born mean we can have no opinion on the issues ?????

If that opinion is anti-Cypriot then you should reconsider being here...

And, those 250 000 Cyps of England, took money out of Cyprus and invested in England? You are committing a crime against our intelligence GR!

Why don't you ask Miltiades how he started a business from nothing in London and ended up creating jobs for others... he's just one of the many stories!

I am on the Cyprus Mail online almost daily and, sad to say, GR is right. The comments posted are of "enemies of the State" and some honest Cypriot concerned citizens. The situation is getting out of hand... CYM editors nowhere to be found... allowing this fiasco to continue... will only get worse...

The paper's purpose is to report the news, only the news and nothing but the news. By allowing posters/readers express their opinions should be well balanced & edited accordingly to avoid exactly what is happening right now.

The failure of CYM to control their own website can only attributed to their editors. Something must be done to keep this paper respectable as it should be.

It is disappointing Mr Bananiot does not agree & prefers this situation to continue as is.

I'm sure you will find he has some comments about the idiosynchrasies of the UK and if he finds and experiences coruption and malpractice would similarly comment.

This by your measure would make him anti-english ?

He should therefore leave ?

And as a side comment -

I truly and fervently wish this country would embrace its rights as an independant nation. Become a nation of Cypriots and tear down the flags that have successfully divided you.

it is because what you write is not acceptable in a civilised forum. the only place for you is here what is known as the frontier wild west. where you can be as nasty as you like and they turn a blind eye. carry on doing what you do it certainly has been an eye opener for me. i have now met some real greeks of cyprus. thank god for the guarantee that we have. shame but we will never have one state. you just cannot be trusted, not now and not never.

In this case Georgios you better give us an example of this anti cypriot postings by the CM. Before you look for any, please note that those that truly love their country do not hesitate to criticise any shortcoming because only criticism leads to improvement.

TC666, are you saying that people like GR are the real Greek Cypriots? If this is what you are saying, you are completely wrong and perhaps you are just looking for excuses to play down the efforts made for solution. GR's are found on both sides of the divide and it is these people that have destroyed Cyprus.
