One of the many reasons Cyprus today is under occupation is this dialect which created huge confusion to the population.
It would be much better such dictionary to not exist and our schools down there to insist and demand only the correct language to be used.
Firstly this must be a "must" for someone to became a minister - Minister without speaking fluetly the correct language must be prohibited-same must be apply to journalists.
If this problem between written and verbal language was not there, then we (G/cs ) would never confused our Ethnicity with stupiness of Greek Junta and its supporters in the Island as well as with the stupiness of the Cyprus Ethnos!!!.
FIRSTLY, how dare you call yourself Cypriot if you condemn your own language. If you analyze the Cypriot dialect, you'd be surprised to find that it is less Greek than originally thought. Guessing from your tone of voice you must belong to a certain political party in Cyprus. Well my friend, the 'confusion' between the 'G/cs' community has been here for many many years and was and will always be a result of the CORRUPT and 'EXTREME' political parties.
We are a people who have been under the rule of many empires, stretching back to the Byzantine-This being the reason why the majority of Cypriots consider themselves Greek and sought union with Greece.
The Cypriot dialect should be taught EVERYWHERE in Cyprus as it is part of who you are and part of our diverse history. Our dialect belongs to our fathers and grandfathers. It belongs in our occupied villages, in every kafeneio and in every sxoleio. It's in the heart of every single cypriot; in children, in mothers and deceased. Truth be told it is a dialect so strong that Greeks cannot even understand it and it is strongly influenced by all the occupational forces Cyprus has endured. As for your nationality, you are not Greek, as you are not Turkish nor Italian nor English. You are Cypriot which comprises of all of these.
