Part and parcel of the British ...traffic warden mentality , invented long before traffic wardens. !!!
What a ridiculous weight measure !! A stone has ...14 pounds - note not 10 or at least 12 but 14 !!!
A bloody pound then has ...16 ounces , not 10-12 or even 14 but 16 .
Then we have a hundredweight ....The British hundredweight was divided into 4 quarters [1] of 28 pounds, 8 stone of 14 pounds, or 16 cloves of 7 pounds each. ...
So a HUNDRED weight is not a hundred but ...112 pounds, the you have the great British Ton 2240 pounds !!!!
It is no wonder the British ruled the world and also invented ....cricket
talking about cricket here are the latest Lords results , England 102350 fucking runs not out and 56 million bloody wickets.
Remember the old money in Cyprus during the British rule ?
One shilling had ... 9 piastres not 10 or even 12 like theirs had but 9 , then the Cy pound had ..18 shillings not 20 mind you oh no , we are British you bloody foreigners cant have 20 like us 18 will do you peasants , so the pound had..162 piastras !!!!
Love the Brits though , my late wife every Xmas and on my birthday would send me a card by post... We lived together for goodness sake , No she would say it has to arrive by post !!!
The Gimli Glider is the nickname of the Air Canada aircraft that was involved in a notable aviation incident. On 23 July 1983, Air Canada Flight 143, a Boeing 767-200 jet, ran completely out of fuel at 26,000 feet (7,920 m) altitude, about halfway through its flight from Montreal to Edmonton via Ottawa. The crew was able to glide the aircraft safely to an emergency landing at Gimli Industrial Park Airport, a former Canadian Air Force base at Gimli, Manitoba.[1]
The subsequent investigation revealed corporate failures and a chain of minor human errors that combined to defeat built-in safeguards. In addition, fuel loading was miscalculated through misunderstanding of the recently adopted metric system, which replaced the imperial system.

He bought some legal land and decided to build a house. He sent his architect to Cyprus to see the land and had some plans drafted. My friend liked the plans and got the builder to carry out the work. Poor guy picked up a Turkish builder (cheaper?). He was in contact with the builder by phone/fax/e-mail to ensure everything was ok.
The woodwork was to be carried out by a TC. Thats when the **** hit the fan.
To cut a long story short, my friends larder is larger than than my whole kitchen/ and dining room put together. He got the numerals right but not the units. All rooms were treble the intended size. You can imagine the rest. Ofcourse it was too late to change the plans as the concrete work had already been done. Please dont ask me about planning permissions. The house is still lived in by my friend.
