GCs MUST PAY THEIR OWN PROPERTY COMPENSATION!!!!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

GCs MUST PAY THEIR OWN PROPERTY COMPENSATION!!!!

Postby Nikitas » Wed Sep 08, 2010 12:50 am

Well informed sources today sid the TC proposals tabled by Eroglu for the properties issue were as follows:

The returned properties will be a 15% maximum of the total.

The rest, 85 per cent, will be compensated.

Compensation will be paid out of the federal compensation fund.

The GC community will contribute 80 per cent to the federal compensation fund and the TCs will contribute 20 per cent.

In other words the GCs will be taxed to pay their compensation for loss of their properties.

Some people who post in this forum no doubt will call this proposal realistic and warn us to accept it because the next one will be worse. How can paying money inorder to lose your property permanently be worse than the present situation is a mystery. Obviously Eroglu is a master at making the reverse of an offer we cannot refuse, he knows how to make an offer we cannot accept.

Hi Nikitas,

We all know the above "proposal" by Eroglu is stalling tactics, the ROC will never accept this... therefor Eroglu is one step closer to his partitioning plans.

For as long as this corrupt and incompetent GC government partakes in these ridiculous illegalities with the internationally condemned invader/occupier of Cyprus and their so-called “Turkish Cypriot” puppets, I don’t expect to hear ANYTHING sane coming out of these farcical talks which resemble nothing less than the old Karagiozis puppet plays that entertained Cypriots in the 1920s!

The correct procedure for this government or the next, would be to IMMEDIATELY revoke Makarios’ foolhardy gesture of goodwill; under the 1977 High-Level Agreement; which was no doubt signed under duress as less than 6 months later Makarios died and which no other successive government was/is under any obligation to accept/follow although they stupidly do, and the constant pursuit of justice for Cyprus and Cypriots by exhausting ALL international avenues, including and not limited to the threat of military confrontation with Turkey and the implication of the EU and any other regional entity.

Cyprus must take a VERY aggressive and determined stance if the world is to listen, because you can NEVER find justice by collaborating with criminals! On the contrary… you incriminate yourself by tolerating such a travesty!

Even moderate elements within the G/C community will never agree to such preposterous proposals.
I only have a 3 bedroom apartment in Varosia for which I paid £13,00 cy way back in 1972-1974.
To be asked to contribute towards my own ...compensation is grotesque , laughable and totally absurd.
Let Turkey foot the bill , she is big enough and according to statistics the second fastest growing economy after China. Let us see how fast she can compensate !

A very valid point.....

Expecting the G.C's to pay themselves compensation cannot be expected to be taken seriously by anyone and I'm sure the international community knows this??
The only institution which I would expropriate is the Greek Othodox church of Cyprus which should not be allowed to own property other than churches and monasteries, even more when its obnoxious and corrupt leader keeps sticking his nose into politics and other things which are none of his concern, not to mention his clandestine meetings with people such as the Saudi Arabian prince off Chrysochou bay and the Qataris etc!No doubt their discussions were about very spiritual matters?
If his influence suceeds in causing another 'no' vote at a new referendum(I doubt if enough people listen to him anyway?)then all the church property should be confiscated and sold to compensate the refugees who will lose their properties for ever!

Cymart,

So far the international community have behaved like pimps. I do not expect that attitude to change any time soon. They might offer some promises of financial help so the GCs can borrow the money, which will no doubt yield a little profit (interest) for those kind nations that help out.

The very fact that the international community accepts the territorial division imposed by Turkey, ie 18 per cent of the population getting 37 per cent of the land, it stays silent in the face of brazen colonisation, proves that they are pimps. We are wasting our time expecting any kind of help or understanding from these people. Just remember Blair with that priceless statement about the properties issuse being "very sensitive". That is all he could manage to say when he knows damn well what the situation is all about.

Miltiadi,

Maybe Eroglu makes these preposterous offers preciesly because they cannot be accepted by the GCs, we are being railroaded into a rejection so that TCs and Turkey can proceed to the next stage, the officialisation of partition.

Let's wake up and realise that no matter what the name is, what we are discussing here is partition. It would be easier and more honest for all of us to call it that and leave aside pretty acronyms like BBF etc and go straight to the heart of the matter which is territory. In the end no one will get any compensation for their land no matter what they agree in these talks. The precedents of Istanbul, Imvros and Tenedos show exactly what we are going to get- Fuck All.

It could be called poetic justice, I suppose.
:D
However, the reactions shown to this thread are revealing, in as much as they still display a "them and us" attitude.
Post-solution, the Federal Compensation Fund will be a national fund, made up from GC and TC contributions. As the population split is roughly 20%-80%, TC/GC, it is clear that the contribution make-up will be similar.
The conclusion some have jumped to is that the Fund will "belong" to GCs, hence their view that they will be paying for their own compensation.
The key word here is "Federal".

Thank you for pointing out the population ratios. Justice would be to apply those ratios to the territorial division and forego bullshit about compensation altogether.
