Russia and Israel Sign Long Term Military Deal
2010-09-07
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak met up with the Russian Defense Minister in Moscow to sign a long term military cooperation deal.
Anatoly Serdyokov suggests the deal would lead to further purchases of Israeli weapons and technology.
Russia has been drawing closer to Israel since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990's.
Barak also travelled to the southern Russian resort of Sochi to meet with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Russia is stocking up on foreign weapons and is keen to build up a fleet of Israeli-made spy drones.
This comes after Georgia used the unmanned robot aircrafts in their 2008 war with Russia.
