Btw, those who don't like the CF's "nastiness" should go join this forum first for a little workout…

As one of the 'victims' of the lack of legal protection here, from where I sit the situation is far from amusing; it is most stressful yet lawyers, or at least some of them, display a lack of energy in trying to resolve the issue.

I am having to work in parallel with my lawyer, to resolve my problem; he is always 'so busy with his clients' - well I am a client too; the problem is, shout at the lawyer and your file goes on the bottom of the pile again.

Slow Progress

Postby chedda » Mon Sep 27, 2010 7:27 am

Was this Lawyer recommended to you ? Surely you can ask for a rough timetable of progress. Then when he has not fulfilled this you are justified in moving on ? He will also be aware of his own estimations.

Timetable - 4 months
To date - 15 months and counting...

I know many of the Pafos lawyers and he had the right experience to undertake this case; I am no 'naive foreigner' and know Cyprus Property Law better than most - but that doesn't help.

I have thrown lots of money at this case and that doesn't help either; I am not sure what those who cannot finnace a long legal battle are expected to do - surrender, I suppose.

Why bother with links on here? The truth hurts, anywhere here is a bit more for you to rip apart. Maybe IF you where one of the thousands affected you would be more tolerant of those that are in very bad situations.

'Where some other countries have lowered their mortgage interest rates and property taxes to encourage overseas investors, mortgage interest rates in Cyprus are amongst the highest in Europe and the government is talking about increasing property taxes it charges large land owners; a charge that will no doubt be passed on to those buying property. This approach is an anathema in other countries where governments have taken steps to reduce the costs associated with property ownership to encourage investment.
A major factor in reversing the collapse in the overseas property market is the ability of the Cyprus Government to develop, introduce and enforce effective legislation to deal with the many problems in the Island’s real eastate, banking and legal sectors.Although the Cyprus parliament is discussing legislation, pundits believe that its scope is too limited and that it suffers from inherent defects.

In the meantime Chairman of the Estate Agents Association of Cyprus, Solomon Kourouklides, has stressed the need to find new markets for Cyprus, such as China, the Arabic countries and Iran'

I remember shouting at a previous Lawyer here a few years ago now, (while he had a number of people in his waiting area) he threw things at us in his office  This was because we told him he was,nt an inland revenue agent and WE would sort out our own CGT,s he it appears had them wrong by 8k, we got an accountant to do it instead  but that is just one thing we found him out in, smarmy little git. We had to use one or two threats  to get our file off him to another Lawyer in Limassol.
