My objection earlier on was to the ignorant rubbish Milti was suggesting that Turks are committing honor killings, when in fact it is mainly a Kurdish "tradition".

He can't even tell the difference.

No Shah , Milti is not talking rubbish " That's why these honor killings keep happening -- because they are broadly tolerated, even encouraged, by Islamic teachings and attitudes. Yet no authorities are calling Islamic leaders to account for this."
It is part and parcel of Islamic culture not only Kurdish .
Recently in the UK a young Turkish girl , not Kurdish , was killed by the father !!

Following Shah claim that honour killings are concentrated in Kurdish areas , here are the results of a University survey showing that 40% of students supported honour killings , spread that across the entire nation and allow for the fact that most elderly and illiterate would be in favour the results could increase to more than 50% !!
No Shah , it is a practice that the Turks find quite acceptable .

And here is another:

Admit it Shah , Turkish mainlanders ARE NOT of the same calibre as the indigenous to Cyprus T/Cs, different people and different culture .

It would appear that miltiades is quite prepared to accept information gleaned from various sources AND supply the 'Links' which bolster his contentions YET, will not accept any that are supplied by others to bolster theirs.

There must be a mighty conspiracy against the actions of the US /UK and The terror State of Israel if the hundreds of 'Links' dismissed by miltiades are false.

Is it not possible that the ones HE supplies (from the same source as those that condemn US/UK and Israeli atrocities) could therefore ALSO be false ?.

OR, more likely, that he is so brainwashed into believing that his 'Mentors' can do no wrong that he is unable to see the wood for the trees ?.

Ah, but we already know that.

I do not in any way condone that which is under discussion by the way.

"so a few hundred unarmed dumped in mass graves is definitely a massacre. "

The Sandalaris massacre involved 60 people from the villages of Sandalaris and Maratha. The second phase of Attila, according to Ecevit himself, acounted for 4500 dead. "If the Greeks had accepted our proposals we would not have had to initiate Attila II and kill 4500 people" he told a TV reporter, I believe from the BBC.

So we allagree that even one is a massacre, but there is an element of scale here, undeiniably.

As for the original subject of the airport incident, there are some details conveniently forgotten.

The Egyptian commandoes burst out of their Hercules plane, guns blazing, firing at the Cyprus airways plane which still had the pilots and crew, some passengers, as well as the hijackers inside. The response of the National Guard was unavoidable, and as one passenger said at the time "if it was not for the Greek response we would all be dead". The Egyptians had not warned anyone of their intention to storm the plane which was fully fueled at the time.

You can check the above by looking up reports in the Times, Daily Telegraph, Guardian and other serious newspapers of that time.

Robert Fisk is reporting in The Independent this week on honour killings. Yesterday's article makes for uncomfortable reading, with Turkey one of the worst nations for this barbaric practices, albeit with most occuring within the Kurdish community, but also some indications that the state does not consider these crimes to be worthy of serious punishment....
In the same year, an Istanbul court reduced a sentence against three brothers from life imprisonment to between four and 12 years after they threw their sister to her death from a bridge after accusing her of being a prostitute. The court concluded that her behaviour had "provoked" the murder.

No 'Strings' miltiades, merely an observation which has validity.

Either you accept what is conveyed through sources outside of 'The Sun' newspaper or you do not.

A member who presents evidence of the atrocities committed by US/UK and The Terror State of Israel and provides 'Links' to uphold such evidence, is constantly subjected to your foul abuse for his pains in doing so YET, in order to press YOUR point, YOU produce evidence from precisely the same sources in order to prove YOURS.

Surely you are not so blind that you cannot see the hypocrisy you display in so doing.

You cannot 'Hunt with the Hounds AND Run with the Fox' although such a description of your forum character would be an admirable one (IMHO).

Milt, are these supposed to be "sources"?

First of all, I said it is more of a Kurdish tradition, and it is, no one tolerates it, but the people who commit the crimes usually go ahead and turn themselves in anyway. What is one supposed to do?

They rather spend most of their lives in jail than accept the fact that their daughter loves sex.

So stop talking like an ignorant fool as if "Turks support honor killings" when you obviously have no clue and generalization happens to suit your shallowness.

Stick to supporting Israel, you are better at it.
