Why do they insist on that Peace?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Why do they insist on that Peace?

Can you find good reasons for the action of EU and US for that they insist on a peace in Cyprus, and give funds for TRNC?

It's done in order to scare the Greek Cypriots into asking for a second referrendum and also to avoid a possible erruption of Islamist fundamentalism in Northern Cyprus. Also it's done in order to satisfy Turkey and since the Turkish Cupriots want direct links there's a real need to be practical ( that's very short-sighted though)

there nothing to worry about with regard to Islamic fundamentalism, there's as much chance of us all becoming born again Christians. Nothing is being done to RoC, and if Papadopoulos sees what is proposed as a danger he had better think and act quickly because he is seen as an obstacle to peace.

Yes I thought so myself but it was one of the arguments for it.

It's not up to him to start new negotiations. It'll be some time before the Cyprus issue is taken up again.

Why do you think is?

Are you satisfied with waiting some time (how long)?

There will not be an initiative for a new round of negotiations before December. This is what Papadopoulos said. I think it's the UN which is supposed to call us to the negotiations table.
After December one of four things can happen according to Papadopoulos:
1. We accept the plan as it is
2. Some minor changes are made to it and we are given guarrantees
3. We start negotiating again until our needs have been met
4. We throw the Annan plan out the window

The UN is supposed to call RoC to negotiate? Does the RoC not have any responsiblity? Seeing as there is an international conspiracy against RoC why doesn't RoC and Papadopoulos (as head of state) try and make efforts independently?

Yes he does. He is preparing the ground. We can't start new negotiations until the dust settles down completely. And I think Papadopoulos' preference is to wait until December.

We can't act independently, we are not the only ones involved...

I'm glad for Papadopoulos that he is so patient that he can wait until December, he can negotiate with the head of the state he refuses to acknowledge exists. Who else would he negotiate with?

In case you forgot Papadopoulos and Talat are referred to as the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot leaders.
