How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

If that was the case there would be no new countries in the world. Sometimes people have to fight for self determination. Otherwise it will never be given by the emperialist bastards.

As to mineral rights I agree so long as the government has the rights. Turkey says Cyprus does not. I think game set and match, wouldn't you say?

"Turkish Cypriots" DO NOT have a right to self determination if that's what you were thinking...

As soon as you can turn Romford into a country of your choice, just because you may own some land and a house with a 99 year lease on it, then I can take your post seriously. Until then, you have nothing meaningful to offer to this conversation.!

I appreciate your optimism as always, even regarding the GC's whom you believe would not sell their country, but I believe a lot of them would be after money, just like any other human being.

When you buy a house, do you not own the land as well?

How does that work?

It is not about "another state", it is about one less bargaining chip for the GC's to shove in our faces every time, in order to try and get us to join their true little ethnocracy.

Sometimes, and sometimes you only lease it. Most of the times, you have ZERO mineral rights, even if you did own the land, just as you can't build anything you want on it without the approval of the local government. One may own a piece of land, but that ownership does not give the rights to call it another country from the one it already belongs to. Only a country itself can sell part of it's territory to another and not individuals selling their land to another buyer.!

To draw a parallel to something closer to my home, and perhaps the situation is similar elsewhere. Here in GB we may feel we own our little bit of land on which our homes are built, but in reality we only have them on a tenure, in the GB case on Freehold Tenure from Mrs Windsor.

... and to take the GB example, and it may apply elsewhere, a little further, the Title to any one piece of land, can be traced back through a succession of consecutive legal freehold owners going back for years and years, back to a date of legal significance.

(It may be of interest to those citizens of the suburbs of the CY Republic of N London that they can prob trace their freehold ownership back through a line of legal owners to one of hundreds of GB Parliament Acts of Enclosure back in the late 18th or early 19th century.)

Ownership of the land is another issue. This part of the island now under our control.

You can take the money for your land or wait for a solution which has not come for 35 years, up to you.

So it might not seem like the most pleasant situation, but I believe the monetary value of people will be stronger than their national pride.

Like it or not, unfortunately that is the case with most people.

This is no different to what the GC's wanted to do to the TC's back in the day.

Gave them every opportunity to leave, and made it hell for those who stayed, so here is theirs.

Blah blah!

We can claim self determination only if we have the power to fight our own war, that's what that junk article means. Obviously you are not going to just give it to us, we all know that.

What a pity that you cant wage war for it anymore though..

Have the Varo-shiites started a new sect in Muslim religion? Have not heard of them before but whoever they are, once we get our self determination we shall grant them theirs. That’s the kind of people we are. And we don’t even mind when they nick our lands, the thieving hypocrites. We will learn them a few things on how to live like, you know what I mean?
