There is an old Cockney who took to the road and became a 'Tramp' many years ago, he became very well known (still is) around the London area and was a mine of information on many subjects, including the unfortunate outcome of the political chicanery which gave birth to the 'Cyprus Situation'.

His standing in the community is generally presumed to be of no consequence (by those who are not familiar with him) since he has chosen to live his life in a fashion which is frowned on by many.

However, during a period when a certain disgruntled property purchaser embarked on a campaign of destruction and condemned a certain developer, primarily because (IMHO) he was beaten to the punch when it came to securing a profit on his purchase, Jimmy Light (for that is the name of the 'Gentleman of the road') kept a tight watch on the chaps antics when he (the disgruntled one) pitched his tent and vowed to live on the street until he secured satisfaction for his claims.

Now Jimmy did not like this protest for a very sound reason, this 'Pavement Dweller' was likely to give 'Tramps' a bad name for he was attracting the attention of the Local Authorities and Jimmy is a man who has suffered at their hands during his lifetime.

Jimmy therefore, organized a crew of fellow 'Gentlemen of the roads' and firstly asked, then insisted, then threatened and finally 'Kicked his arse' into touch when he opted to resist the three approaches.

The street was clear, Jimmy & Co were back in business and the birds sang once again in Berkeley Square.

Jimmy is a straight talking man, when I asked him what the outcome of his strategy in dealing with the protester was, he simply said, "The Geezers Gawn Guvna, Gawn an' Bleeden Good Riddance"

Which brings me to your query "Is this forum dying ?"

As Jimmy Light would say "C'or Blimey no Guvna, not fer as long as there are Geezers like meself abaht !"

I think the down turn in the quantity and quality, of posts has something to do with the utter crap that a few people are putting on here!

You know, "Osama has been caught, "some sick woman on a ship", that kind of stuff.

Too much hate and vitriol has been the main reason for this forum losing it's credibility with both existing and new members.

But I personally think the forum is going down the shitter...

We've lost some excellent posters and the forum is under-moderated IMHO.

I've been running and moderating forums for years, the rule I always try to apply is 'what would a new user who just found the forum think of the current active posts?'.

Anybody logging on here recently would find chaos and conflict in the general section... somebody needs to move posts around so that 'tourist' stuff is in the tourist section, we need a 'moving to Cyprus' section for all that useful information on the board and the mods/admin need to split threads that turn into north/South arguments so all the fighting ends up in Cyprob...

Look at the DAY TRIPS TO FAMAGUSTA thread - firstly it should have been moved to 'Tourism' but then it turned into flame war... what would a new poster think...?

Just my Image

Oh god!

Nothing worse than a over-responsible moderator, forcing everyone on a forum to fit in his/her little box of "what if's".

I wouldn't spend another second here if it was one of those and it would be impossible to discuss a heated topic such as the Cyprus problem, without some heat!

A forum should be where everyone can openly express anything they feel, exchange anything they want. A moderator should only be there to pick out idiots who technically try and turn the forum into hell, spam ads for example, or floods.

That's about it.

I think this forum is moderated pretty well, it gives a lot of freedom for expression.

So sorry if you find my attempts to introduce a little levity into the proceedings on the forum unpalatable, I assure you that (in my opinion) there is far too much 'Ultra Serious' rivalry and hatred displayed under normal conditions.

Perhaps the constant barrages of insult and ignorant attacks on both new and old members, might explain the reason for the forum's 'Lack of Lustre' for some.

The 'Verbal Battles' which rage on the forum can be rather tiresome at times, particularly when it is quite obvious that NO resolution will be reached whatever the strength of opinion may be (on both sides), perhaps the reason is that neither side has any real understanding of just how much corruption exists (behind the scenes) and is either reluctant OR not concerned enough to investigate anything that is not fed to them through the 'Censored' media.

Whatever the outcome of the situation in Cyprus IS, it will be decided by Liars, Thieves, Crooks and Israelis, NOT by the likes of we on the forum.

Not seeking to offend anyone,THAT is my opinion, in all modesty, I believe myself to be 'Spot On'.
