Three soldiers remanded over arson
Published on August 26, 2010

A LARNACA district court yesterday remanded in custody for eight days, three National Guardsmen – including a non-commissioned officer -- suspected of involvement in an arson attack on Tuesday.
The hearing was held at the Nicosia general hospital where one of the suspects was being treated for burns allegedly suffered during the attack.
The conscript was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital on Tuesday with second degree burns and has undergone surgery.
The Defence Ministry said the NCO involved in the case has been suspended as the police continue their investigation.
The National Guard said it had launched a disciplinary investigation against the soldiers.
The NCO and the two conscripts were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the arson attack against an Aradippou DVD shop owned by the officer’s wife.
The attack took place at around 5.40 am, causing around €100,000 in damages.
Area residents saw the two conscripts fleeing the scene and a few minutes later the 19-year-olds were located at Larnaca general hospital with leg injuries.
As one of the conscripts allegedly admitted to police, they were reportedly paid €6,000 to set fire to the shop.
Police is investigating the possibility of the arson being an insurance related scam.
The husband belongs to the same unit as the two conscripts and was arrested on Tuesday with charges of conspiracy to commit arson.

Ignore him, Cap. Anyone called zan is a criminal...

Look at this guy for example... Zan Atterbury, 52, in Marion County, Oregon, USA, who was arrested for driving under suspension. The idiot was suspended, and still driving!

What does a fellow zan say about that?
