Piratis, you got stuck (quite conveniently) in 1958 because you think (wish) that the killings started then. Of course this is not so for the work of the nationalist fascists started earlier. This is a conversation I had with Tony a week or so ago:
Tony
Which was the FIRST intercommunal killing? Give me JUST ONE example of a TC being killed before you slaughtered the 8 GCs in Kondemenos.
BananiotTony, these are known facts and have been published in many books. For example, on 23 April 1956, EOKA shot and killed Turkish Cypriot policeman Nihat Pasi in Nicosia. On 23 May 1956, EOKA killed Lisani Ahmet, in Polis. These killings, along with a third one, produced mass reaction by TC youths all over Cyprus, resulting in the burning of many GC businesses. There is no doubt that Turkish Cypriots were preparing for some sort of a showdown and probably it was no accident that at this time the leadership of TMT went to a Turkish Colonel named Hasan Taksin Ogerlat.
I have not heard of Tony since, but no doubt you will not disappear, you will write about 1958 in due course ...
