When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.

When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.
Sir Winston Churchill

Could this be true for 1960 - 1974? Can the Gcs find it in their hearts to accept us as their fellow parrots?

If you insist on revisiting the distant past to justify why Turkey still occupies our island, please note Cyprus's problems with overseas invaders/conquerors/rulers/colonisers started around 3,500 years ago.

Cypriot nationalists would welcome all types of winged vertebrates who would side against the invader in the liberation of their island homeland, jabbering or otherwise.

And how exactly does the quote translate to Cyprus? Are the "eagles" the foreign Imperialists who shouldn't be in Cyprus in the first place, and the "parrots" the Cypriots who dared to have an opinion about what should happen on their own island? Is this how you mean it?

And who are "you" exactly and based on what you want to be accepted as a "fellow"?

I am no great philosopher so perhaps you can explain in what context it was used by Churchill? It would be a bonus if you could also explain what malapapa is trying to tell us with this sig.

It's hardly rocket science... Winston Churchill's perceptive remark illustrates the tendency of ill-informed, inarticulate pundits (parrots) to set the tone of public debate when the more erudite opinion formers (eagles) refuse to enter the fray.
