For the time being there is no common defense for EU and each country has to arrange its own defense separately. Therefore EU is not in the position to give directives on this issue.

How exactly are those teenagers insulted by being told they have to serve in the army? Every Greek Cypriot male has to serve.

Great to see you are still not giving a shit about human rights

Which means (human rights) to leave your wife and childs and/or parents to be facked up by any idiod Anatolian wish to do so.

If G/cs had boarders with todays Italy or Netherlands then the human rights in this respect would be different but unfortunatetly we can not choose and we have to live with 16th century's dreams of Turkey.

Oh yeah?

I do remember reading a lot about how the Greeks went about to treat the woman and children in Turkey's war of independence. Even during defeat while they were evacuating from Western Turkey, was hardly considered EU.

SO what happened there?

Different strokes for different folks?

I also remember Greeks voluntarily going over to give the Serbs a "hand", not just in Cyprus. They seem to take every opportunity to kill a few Muslims.

So maybe you have civilized since?

Genoside you mean? Oh. sorry this was for a civilzed country action not Greece.

I have never heart that Greek army had ever a case in human rights organizations or Human rights court for crimes of war. Others are famous in this section.

Where is the European Union to directive for this matter?

Except the 20% who duck out on the grounds of 'mental health problems'.

The amount of people i've seen running of to the psychiatrist for their "anastoli" is unbelievable! Admittedly i only have to serve 6 months so it's much easier for me than it is for them, but still...

 But you'd also have to become a black beret to go anywhere near a tank, except during the annual exercises when they all come together.

Joining the army alone doesn’t guarantee contact with tanks.
