Hello all, my name is Laura and I am married to Frank ( 43 years)
we are very YOUNG pensioners who are intending to emigrate to Cyprus in 2006.
We are both retiring Christmas Eve, having worked for a total of 95 years between us, and having done our DUTY by producing and rearing two upright citizens son and daughter and two up and coming ( hopefully) upright citizens grandson and grandaughter.

We now believe it is OUR TIME and hope that the magic of Cyprus keeps us fit and well for a long time yet.

Everyone keeps saying that its not all that greener on the other side!!!! well we shall see.

Will be pleased to hear any tips etc from anyone on the forum

Hi Svetlana thanks for your reply. We shall be in Limassoll mid September and hopefully find a lot of answers to our questions, thats after we have chilled for a day or two.
One question however, is it best to book a car rental here in the uk or wait til we arrive in Cyprus?

Saint Jimmy, so glad to hear you're not an alcoholic

This being the first time i've written a message, i think i will do as u suggest Jimmy, and introduce myself........................ I'm a 23 year old, non alcohol abusing, 2nd generation TC female living in London. I actually found this site whilst doing some research on conflict resolution in Cyprus (the central theme of a project i'll be doing this year as a part of my masters). It seems i've got more in common with the saint than simply not being an alcoholic: that is, i dont really know what i'm going to do with myself career wise after the masters.

Anyway, i guess that's enough about me! I would like to hear about everyone else.

Have n't posted for a while now so this is a good place to start..........

As you have probably already worked out my name is Marina, I'm 32 years old, 5 ft 10 with short brown hair (red at the moment!!) and dark brown eyes.
I have been happily married for 8 years and have two beautiful kids that I am totally in love with. My daugther is 2.5 and my son is 10 months old.
Having kids was a big decision for me so I decided to live life and have my babies when totally ready to commit to them, I had some people including my mother in law asking if I had a problem and did nt get pregnant on my honeymoon!!!!
My mum and dad are both refugees, I was 1.5 and my brother was born during the war!
After moving to England (Hertfordshire) my mum had another 2 kids, one boy and one girl so we are FOUR!!

We decided to move back to Cyprus when I was 19 but my brother did nt like it and went back to the UK, got married and bought a house in Enfield.
Mum's hoping that one day they'll move back as she's a very family person, I hope so too!

I'm a taurus and have a stubborn side, this has carmed down though since I have become a mum.
I love food and drink, laughing, music and dancing (if I can get my little sister to baby sit!).
I love being loved, cuddles and good friends that I can enjoy some vodka with.

I work as a PA and office administator for an offshore company (which is now actually onshore!) and I've been here for 8 years now!!. I enjoy my job and get on with everyone in the office, this is important as we are at work most of the day and I could n't handle having problems there!!!

Anyway thats all I can really think about!! Hope you have nt fallen asleep.

I have only just found the time to read this long thread! I wish I had started sooner! Anyway, am watching the topic now and will keep up to date. I wish I could write in an interesting and comical way but you will just have to put up with some boring blurb... Would like to hear about some more people on this forum - or are they too afraid to reveal themselves?

I am originally from Essex, born and bred. Since a child I was horse mad. During my working life I have flitted between working with horses and secretarial (an odd combination). Have owned and competed on my own horse for 11 years whilst working in London as a legal secretary (cos it pays good money). Have a younger sister living in Cyprus who is married to a Cypriot (she's been here about 18 yrs). I moved out to Cyprus originally from UK about 9 yrs ago. Worked in an office and then with horses for about 4 yrs. Met my partner who was then living in N.Ireland and due to retire so I moved to NI with my two rescue dogs from Cyprus, trained as a dog groomer, returned to Cyprus a couple of years later with partner & his dog and my 2 dogs, started my own grooming business and here we are living in our beautiful bungalow in the middle of fields, with no neighbours, enjoying our huge garden of olive, nut and fruit trees and of course the swimming pool - mandatory!

Love riding, walking my dogs, eating out, lazing by the pool in summer (when I get the chance - dog grooming is very busy from about March to December!)

Anyway, hope to hear more from you all....
