My recent wedding !!

Postby miltiades » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:04 am

Last month my 70 year old brother and I flew to Cyprus in order to attend a family wedding that neither of us would have missed for the world. A very close relative an absolutely gorgeous young lady was getting married.
It was to be a Registry - politikos - wedding and the reception was to be held in a hotel.
Fine , a wedding is a wedding so off we went . The first sign of things to come was that No children were allowed. Well we thought , odd since children are so much a part of the Cypriot cultural events and I consider a Cypriot wedding very much a cultural event.
The next sign was that the ceremony was to be a private event , a secret location without any guests even the parents !!!
I was beginning to feel uncomfortable but brushed it aside , thought it to be very rude to say the least , both I and my brother flew to Cyprus to attend the wedding !!! And NO parents invited ??!!!!!!
Off we set to the reception at the hotel , my brother being the eccentric that he is in top hat and a wedding ...outfit , tie cufflinks the lot , I in an ordinary suit and tie , bloody hot for July but the show had to go on.
Entered the reception area took one look at the groom and said to Eric , Oh my God , he was wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, I quickly got rid of the tie and jacket and sat down listening to English /American music , it was fine but I thought for a Cypriot wedding a little inappropriate where is the Greek music I said to my brother , no sooner did I get my words out and what appeared to be Greek shit started playing. Now I dont like rapping , I consider it the worst sound I have ever heard and I do not flinch from calling it African jungle sounds. Now Greek rapping is to me like a plate of shit put in front of me it is diabolically fucking stupid and suitable to be played only to ...flying pigs !!
Then the band came on , more bloody Greek rapping followed by heavy metal music , the band I could tell was good based on my time as a musician .
They were good but I hate heavy metal at a Greek Cypriot wedding.
I was rude since upon finishing my meal I followed by brother in making a hasty exit , couldnt stand the bloody noise.
Was I wrong to have been critical , needless to say I did not utter one word whilst at the ....wedding , but boy did I do so afterwards.
What do you think , have weddings in Cyprus lost the traditional elements , are young people turning their backs at tradition or is it just a case of a few lost souls ..

well, me think your relative is just plain weird !! n one play r&p music or any sort or shape of rock in weddings !!

secondly no one wears friggin jeans !! and as i was lucky enough to had been in few weddins over here, Cypriots are very proud of their parents !! you would see them every where during the wedding taking care of all the little details !!

so again.. you was lucky enough to experience what i call a wedding gone wrong

It could merely be a case of just 'One lost R-soul' who cannot countenance the young expressing their own interpretations of how their wedding ceremony and celebrations should be conducted, after all, if it is in any way contradictory to the way YOU would have it, it obviously cannot be right.

Recently read that a UK couple had their wedding ceremony contacted in an Asylum , the fuckers were merely expressing their predisposition to insanity , a bit like you my little plonker.
Are you a man , a woman or an it ?

Actually Milti, I am probably the greatest 'Friend' you have on the forum and I will explain why.

Your 'Friends' will always inform you of your faults, the more direct they are in doing so, the more genuine.

A critical 'Friend' is vastly superior to a compatible one since the former expects nothing in return (other than the hope that criticism might help you to become a better person than you already undoubtedly are) whereas the latter may harbour feelings of envy (or other) and in reality hope for your downfall.

An 'Enemy' may wish you harm, you should guard yourself against such BUT, do have the good sense to recognize the differences between 'Good Friends', 'False Friends' and 'Enemies'.

You may regard me as your 'Enemy' since you constantly offer insult. in fact, such responses are the real reason for why I invite them (in the hope that I may help you see the light).

Finally, one should NEVER demean an 'Enemy' since it reduces the glory associated with the 'Victory' (should one overcome the 'Enemy') and here I would reiterate that I am NOT your 'Enemy', merely a sound critic and thus, a true 'Friend'. (IMHO) of course.
