When we come into this world our minds are as open and free as the seed head of a dandelion, each tendril thrusting in every direction as if searching for the information that will equip us with the knowledge that will sustain us through the journey of life which faces us.
The manipulation of our young minds by those who have travelled along the path of life (somewhat) and have received THEIR information, duly pass on that which they have learned and thus mould us into that which THEY believe we should be.
Once the young mind has been suitably moulded, it is extremely difficult to change the direction of thought, even to the extent that what one does is obviously (right or wrong) against what the young mind might perceive to be a path it does (or does not) wish to follow.
The result is clearly visible in the development of mankind's diversity and the REAL issue becomes, which mould has produced the finest form ?.
As individuals, we may have been able to maintain certain of our own ideals BUT, if those ideals are at odds with those generally accepted by the masses, the individual becomes either an outcast OR, one who actually manages to adjust the shape of the mould.
If one were to take the seed pod of a dendelion and crush it in the palms of one's hands, the resulting mess would be a close representation of what happens to the young mind when it has the misfortune to fall into the grasp of those who supposedly teach the difference between 'Right and Wrong'.
In the 'Animal Kingdom', instinct (as we humans call it) is the only source of information they rely on in order to sustain their lives (lest we teach them a few amusing tricks), I do wonder if the concept of mankind's behaviour being generally compared to that of a 'Flock of Sheep', is actually a very fair description when one considers the 'Manner' in which mankind has reached the stage of development it has done thus far.
