Neither do I Bananiot. One of my partners is Turkish. He also doesn't agree with the racism of a country having a president simply because he comes from one ethnic group.

Nothing sentimental at all. Its a racist undemocratic proposal and one which has already made people's mind up with which way they will be voting regardless of what happens with the remainder of the discussion.

Will you be writing to the EU and telling them that their partnership doesn't need such a racist system???

You need to learn the differences between an association of states and a country.
If the Cypriot president has as much power as the 6 month rotating EU presidency then i'll have no problem with this either. Unfortunately thats not how things are....just like in the European parliament things are done by ratio, and just like in the European Commission where larger countries have more commissioners and hold the important commissions.
Don't be stupid Zan.
