“OUR RIGHTS WILL NOT BE ABANDONED”

President Derviş Eroğlu has said that the efforts to maintain the existence of the state will continue.
“It is not yet known whether an agreement will be reached or not at the table, but, we live freely on this land under the guarantee of the Motherland”, said the President.

Referring to the Cyprus negotiations, Eroğlu said the Greek Cypriot Side wants to bring the issues of territory and migrants to the table, but stressed that he will not accept to move on to another topic before completing the talks on property.

The President’s comments came during a visit paid to him today by the President of the Society for the Protection and Perpetuation of the TRNC Nejat Kocaismail who pointed out that the TRNC was established at the end of a hard struggle and stressed that it is out of question for them to give up from the state.

Kocaismail also conveyed the Society’s concerns to the President about the unpleasant statements issued by the Greek Cypriot Leader and Greek Cypriot press reports.

In response, President Eroğlu promised to continue to work for the perpetuation of the state, adding that he will not be abandoning the rights of the Turkish Cypriot People at the negotiations table.

Stressing that he is in support of an agreement that will make it possible for the TC'S to live freely in peace, he said “now we are negotiating the issue of property. Christofias wants to include the topics of territory and migrants into the talks but we are against such a move”.

Be sure to let us know when Turkey says exactly the same things, which amount to nothing, once again.

Davutoglu is busy overseeing the next mission of the Turkish fleet to Spain and Morocco. He must have achieved "zero probems" with immediate neighbors and he is trying to open problems with far off ones.

Lets and see other side of the coin :!:

Derviş Eroğlu has assured the people of Güzelyurt(Morphou) that there is no need for them to concern about their future, calling on them to claim the region. Eroğlu's words came during a visit paid to him by a delegation from the Union of Shopkeepers and Craftsmen in Güzelyurt (Morphou)who conveyed the President their concerns about the statements issued by some circles about giving Güzelyurt(Morphou) as a concession in the Cyprus negotiations process.

The President pointed out that the people of Güzelyurt (morphou)had been feeling uneasy since the launch of Cyprus negotiations and that this had a reflection in the business life in the region.
Eroğlu, however, said that what is important is to claim the region.

“We have slowly put negotiations on the track” he said, promising to pay a visit to the region in a near future to inform the public about the latest developments concerning the negotiations process.
For his part, the Union President Ulus Ese briefed the Eroğlu about the problems of the region and stressed the need for all to shoulder the burden and work to save Güzelyurt(morfou) from uncertainy and economic difficulties.

Huseyin Ozgurgun SPEAKS ............

TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has said that the international community should adopt measures to exert pressure on the Greek Cypriot Side should efforts to reach a settlement by the end of this year fail. Ozgurgun suggested that the international community should exert pressure by taking steps such as removing the economic embargoes imposed on the TRNC, threaten to grant international recognition to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or allow direct trade from TRNC ports.

The Foreign Minister told Bayrak Television that little progress has been reached in the negotiations process so far.
Accusing the Greek Cypriot Side of dragging its feet in the negotiations process and resorting to delaying tactics, Ozgurgun said that the talks could continue with another chapter if a settlement could not be reached by the end of the year.

Pointing out that an outside force was needed to change the Greek Cypriot Side’s stance at the talks, he suggested that the international community should exert pressure on the Greek Cypriot Side by taking steps such as removing international sanctions imposed on the TRNC or even threaten to recognize the TRNC should the current talks fail to yield an agreement by the end of 2010.

Also touching upon the TRNC’s representation offices opened abroad, he underlined the importance of such offices in promoting the Republic, stating that the number of offices abroad had reached 21.
