Man are you ever OUT OF DATE!!!!

All the facilities mentioned above were closed in the 1980s!!!!

You need to check out your reference guides, maybe buy some new ones. Ellinikon is the old airport of Athens, where the Americans had one terminal facility, closed in 1989, used for Olympic installations (Canoe Kayak) and now scheduled to be turned into a park/conference center. You probably saw some of the events on TV in 2004. Google Earth will show the status of Ellinikon as a derelict airport. No planes have landed there since 2003.

Souda bay is a refuelling station and nothing more.

As for the nukes, these were stockpiled in the north of Greece and removed twenty years ago.

Who is ancient around here is obvious.

Nikitas; I was talking about the "huge" American facilities in Junta era, anyway... and it was pre-80s...

"Other major US military bases are " "In addition, there are "

The use of the verb "are" is present tense, you sound like these things are around now. And in any case, I have come to Greece after the junta, those are the 35 years I have known here. And I guarantee you, it is VERY unusual to see foreign military people here, well maybe on 25 March when the foreign military attaches dress in facny gear and watch the parade.

It is hard for some people to accept that Greece has moved on and is like any other western country than the middle eastern mish mash of the general neighborhood. Those days are gone.

Nikitas; honestly I didn't know that they were closed... I only knew most of the warheads were removed but as i said in my previous post; i reffered to the huge US facilities in Greece, during the Junta regime... in your initial post which you quoted from me "... deploying huge American facilities into Greek soil..."; I was reffering to Junta era and before... wasn't it obvious? You denied the existence of 4 main US military bases and 20 other US facilities which supported the four main US military bases...

Insan,

There was a time after the civil war when Greece was a protectorate of the Americans. And the whole country, not just a base here or there, were under Americn control. From your post it was not clear that the reference was to that period. Anyway, things have changed since then and you no longer see an array of US flags when you sail into Piraeus, and gone are the bars and burger joints that catered to the soldiers in Ellinikon.

TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has said that the Greek Cypriot Administration is continuing to drag its feet in order to fulfill its aim of non solution at the Cyprus talks.

Ozgurgun said despite the Greek Cypriot leader’s negative stance, the Turkish side will continue to strive to obtain a solution that will secure the two peoples political equality, principle of bi-zonality that hasn’t been watered down and the continuation of motherland Turkey’s active and effective guarantees in Cyprus.

The Foreign Minister evaluated the critical and provocative opening remarks made against the Turkish Cypriots by the Greek Cypriot leader who had attended the 23rd overseas Greek Cypriot conference.

The Minister who issued a written statement noted that the Greek Cypriot leader had once again hid behind baseless claims that Turkey had a ‘B Plan’ for Cyprus and was dragging its feet at the negotiating table.

He noted that in the last few weeks the Greek Cypriot leader was trying to created artificial agendas in order to push the talks into a deadlock.

Underline the fact that the international community must not give any heed to the recent statements made by the Greek Cypriot leader and continue to play a constructive role during the negotiations process, Mr. Ozgurgun said motherland Turkey’s main aim is to find a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem by the end of 2010.

AGAINST THE ISOLATION OF NORTH CYPRUS BECAUSE WE EXIST!

That is our land you exist upon.

We also exist and you deny us our rights to OUR Country therefore you have to face the isolation which the WORLD as a whole has imposed on your crimes

Not confused at all ... my relies have lost acres upon acres of land. Not to mention homes,

Cyprus as an Island nation and its sovereignty is recognised by the UN and EU as one whole and complete nation. The occupied area is not in effective control of the RoC government.
