RoC is not waiting to be recognised... it already is by every one apart from turkey. and the trnc does not count as its not a country or state

Well that begs the question how, and more importantly WHY, it became to be recognized in the first place, without the other half of the island and 3rd of her people.

With any realistic deal it will have to seize to exist as we know it today, making its current existence a fallacy, temporary, as we have always insisted.

That's an easy one to answer, Shah.

The RoC was recognised way before there were any other so called "states" on the island. All of the RoC's territory and it's citizens are recognised, including the TCs. What is not recognised, is the creation of the "trnc" illegally on the RoC's territory. This was further confirmed in 2004 when the EU accepted the RoC as one of their own and all of her territory and it's people, excluding the existence of the "trnc" entirely. The "trnc" has nowhere to go, but what ever the RoC decides.!

Well the RoC cannot "decide" to make us join them, the only way we will even come close to a solution, will have to be 2 state, meaning the so called "RoC" will HAVE to be redefined, that pretty much makes the current one obsolete, as it was meant to be.

33.33% is a third, but 18% is less than a quarter!

There's no point in the RoC offering the TCs anything given that Turkey controls the occupied territory. I don't think you realize how out of the game the TCs are!

Papadopoulos, used to say it out loud…

“There’s no point in negotiating with TC puppets when it is Turkey that is in control!”

…but these days Christofias is more politically “correct” and so just plays along to buy time without saying it out loud.

Didn;t Makarios do the same :?

Actually no, one of the President's red lines and one that Talat has agreed to is that the new state will be a evolution of the existing government of Cyprus not a virgin birth as it is called.

Its a very practical remedy to cynical thoughts from our side that a new constitution would be torn apart soon as Turkey signs it. WIth an evolutionary constitution we would revert back to an official state and you would go back to being......(drum roll) unrecognised.

We will keep what we have, and one day we will be unavoidably, *wait for the drum roll* recognized. Big deal...

What is totally different in Kossovo and conveninetly forgotten by partitionists in this forum is that there is NO PROPERTY issue in Kossovo. No one stole anyone's land there.

The other minor detail that some forget is that Kossovo Albanians are the majority of the population of the province. These and other details differentiate the situation. ANd to remind us all one more time, the court held that the act of declaring independence is not against international law. It is a far cry from saying it is lawful and creates obligations in other states. Talat undnerstood the judgement more clearly than most.
