Obviously you have not been in one ever, or you would know what a happy spirituality, millions of starving and pissed off people carry under 35 degrees on a work day...

I truly hate Ramadan...

in shock..
You sure you're TC shahma?

What is that supposed to mean?

Am I to take it as a comforting compliment, to know that I am not as "backward and religious" as all the other TC's?

Is that what you are implying?

I'm just kidding with you man

 Not at all.
But assuming I was a media influenced plonker, would it surprise you if I thought that this kind of dissent would have earned you a unanimous fatwa like in the case of Salman Rushdie or something.
Anyway I commend your honest opinion about Ramadan but I didn't think any sane Muslim would actually question it. :D

Yeah I know what you mean.

But I don't actually feel threatened talking out about such stuff here because I think the TC's are the least religious Muslims I have ever come across.

Most of them just don't care, and the ones that really do are mostly foreign.

I happen to live right next to a Sheikh who has visitors from all around the world, the leader of a Islamic clan called Nakşibendi, they literally treat him as a living angel, hundreds of people are in constant traffic all year round, just to spend time with him.

But if you ask the locals, he is just this crazy old Lefkeli man called Nazım who somehow manages to get tonnes of people to fly across the globe, come to Lefke and kiss his feat!

Really weird people out there I tell you....

So you are definitely not one of Şeyh Nazıms Murids.

I last visited him with my uncle 21 years. I am surprised he is still alive. My uncle wished to see how his old pupil from the English School was faring. The Sheikh tried to kiss my uncles hand out of respect, but my uncle would not have it. My uncle was one of those who did not pay much attention to religion, although he had to teach it.

I commend shahmaran, on his openness, he's a free thinking Muslim, and only follows the paths in the Koran that he needs and is not ruled by all the irrelevant stuff....

Like the Bible, the Koran is full of laws etc, that may of made a lot of sense at the time they were written, but make little or no sense in modern times. The Arab states have big problems trying to get the Koran to fit laws and by-laws of a modern society!! Often they just have to make up interpretations of the Koran.... But the truth is, you can't apply the mindset of religious books written upto 2000years ago to 21st century society!!!

Life and minds MOVE ON!! While these books are rooted firmly in the past.... where they really belong!!!

I saw him being driven around the village in a jeep the other day.

Roll him around some spices and give another year or so and he will make great Samarella, thats how old he looks.

I don't understand why no one questions the fact that an "angel" is on his way to the other side

Yeah, Lefke is being taken over by them, not Turks!

It is like constant street carnival.

But they are harmless, they keep to themselves.

Or maybe they are just laying dormant until their numbers are high enough for a coup!

Not much different than any animal really.

Reminded me of this Kaufman story. Very much worth watching :)

Any, ANY!, person with a minimal common sense would understand that such a regime is rooted in a sex-oriented mind. Revelations? My ass!
So you make a connection between Sex and Your Ass :?: :D :D

I have no doubt that enlightened people in the Muslim world will appear one day as they appear in the christian world to introduce some rationality into the societies they live in. Turkish Cypriots, as far as I understand are Muslim light, aren't they not?
