I was just called by a family member who watches AS TV, a Turkish Cypriot TV channel that has just been made available on satellite.

I'm not usually one for watching tv. I prefer making my own entertainment but my relative who is normally quite pro-Turkish was furious.

She claims that in a programme on AS TV (which has caught media attention in Cyprus), a presenter of one show where he tours villages met a young Turkish settler in Karpaz.

He asked him how he got on with the local enclaved Greek Cypriots and he said "very well."

Then the presenter asked him if war broke out in Cyprus what would he do, to which he replied. "The first people I would kill would be Turkish Cypriots...". I kid you not.

This is what a settler said and I will get the details as soon as I can and a link if possible.

He's probably got a dispute or two with a TC neighbor so he thinks the whole lot are bad!

He reminds me of Bananiot, who recalls characters from the past he doesn’t like and blames the whole country for them!

I think I know what's going on here.

It's well known that the TCs (like the GCs) aren't exactly happy or supportive of mass numbers of Turk settlers.

Perhaps this Turk is aware of the TCs views on these squatters.

Loyalty to his family / friends?

No no, he's threatened to attack T/Cs first, in other words before being threatened with attack by them. It means he hates T/Cs so much that he would use war as an excuse to attack and commit the kind of genocide his forefathers did to the Armenians.

No doubt a very Turkish way of doing things....

But more interestingly, doesn't his hostility towards Turkish Cypriots rather kill off the whole argument that "Turkey 'saved' the Turkish Cypriots" or "is there to 'save' them"?
