Just like to point out that the Turkish army never intended to take maras, in fact if the inhabanance did not flee it would be in gc control right now.

What a ridiculous comment !!!! First of all where is the proof that Turkey wouldn't of tried to take Varosha if the inhabitants didnt flee, even if that was the case how would the Famagustians have known that when they were being attacked and bombed mercilessly. They also knew what the Turkish army had already done to GC civilians in northern Cyprus up till then.

What do you expect to happen when the city was attacked, bombed and napalm bombed by the Turkish army/airforce, the inhabitants thought they would be back in a few days.

and if the civilians would have stayed and faced the Turk army they would have been executed just like many were that fell into their hands, the mass graves in the occuppied areas proves it....

Many here have said that the GCs left and became REFUGEES before the Turkish army reached them so I would say those mass graves were the work of EOKA thugs who were killing Makarios supporters. I have a GC friend whose father was involved in burying these people. He drove the bulldozer that covered them up so stop your crap  The other 5000 that GR is now forced to quote as opposed to the 8000 you guys were claiming a while back and still your propaganda books are quoting would have been those fighting the liberation forces of the Turkish army.....Sounds about right to all right thinking minds!!!! 8)

EoKA had nothing to do with anything in cyprus after the zurich agreements were signed in 60. you need to get your facts straight. You Turks need to face the facts that your army committed war crimes during the illegal invasion of Cyprus in 74. When the Turkish actor came out a couple of years ago and admitted that he executed unarmed
Gc soldiers, it came as no surprise to Gc's ...

They just wnet undersground you are so naive if you think they disappeared or the GCs abandoned this dream.

Other major cities have been bombed but they were not deserted like Maraş.

I think it safe to agree that most TCs did not differentiate between the original EOKA and the subsequent EOKA-B, whose main element were those ex-NG GC's which were then affiliated or taken over by the Greek/Junta officers of Greece.

Most TCs saw both groups hell bent on achieving ENOSIS.
