Closure works and rehabilitation of the Dikmen Dump have been launched, the European Commission has announced. A statement from the Commission said works started on the 26th of July.
The rehabilitation project is being funded under the Financial Aid Regulation introduced for the Turkish Cypriots and is expected to be finalized in 21 months.
Closure and rehabilitation project is being carried out by a French company and the quality of works will be supervised by a consortium led by a specialized German company.
EU funding for the rehabilitation work of the dumpsite amounts to 6.3 million euros.
The overall EU contribution to improved waste management practices in line with EU standards amounts to 19.5 millon euros.
So are we going to breath fresh air on the way when we use Kyreania -Nicosia motorway ... or when i visit my mother inlaw village Mandrez. Some nights it is very difficult to sit inside the homes.... especially when the wind comes from west.
This morning it was terrible .... terrible smell was coming from the motorway.
