I guess you had better listen to daddy kins here, I had neither asked for nor sought an apology from the OP.

As a traitor to your kind, you are in no position to lecture me, you can do that whilst you are in class where you can play god and be in charge.

The OP, had some questionable points that I picked up on, if you don't like it you know what you can do. Na tzilistis.

To Shalay, I have noted your points, I do apologies for being short fused with you and perhaps I should have waited abit first. Sorry.

Welcome to the CF and hopefully you will learn the real truth.

I stand by what I have said and I do reserve judgement.

just FYI, this Banana man, is a GC who blames all GCs for the strife they have suffered not once blaming the turks, you can understand why words get exchanged here. To him, anyone who doesn't agree with him, and here are a few new words he has developed for us, are facists, bash patriots, cretins, rejectionists, think, idiots and a few more that escape me right now.

I have no respect for him, he has none for me, and I prefer it that way. I'd rather share a beer with , hell even runway, than Banana man. he is no compatriot of mine nor many others.

Hi Shalay.

I see that you have met the welcoming committee. Not surprisingly the warmest (or should I say hottest) came from 'B25'. He cant help it. Not everybody here is represented by the likes of him. That includes TCs and GCs. Never be afraid to ask questions. The answers will often help you understand the plight of the Cypriot people. Good luck in your studies and welcome aboard the Cyprus Forum. You can learn a lot especially from personal experiences and other sources. I am 65 years old and still learning; and there is a lot to learn about our beloved Cyprus. Some sweet and some are bitter. But one should not let the 'bitter' put you off. Remember, Marzipan/Badem macunu is made from bitter almonds which contain Prussic acid akin to Cyanide. And dont we love badem macunu. We just have to learn to treat it right.

Regards

DA

The exact translation of ENOSIS Shalay is Union .
I supported ENOSIS then I do not with hindsight support it now and neither does the overwhelming majority of G/Cs . To understand the reasons for the G/Cs aspiring for ENOSIS its not hard and neither was such an aspiration abominable as some people make. The overwhelming majority of the Cypriot people wanted ENOSIS because independence had never been experienced , ENOSIS was the natural cause at the time. Do also ask your self , had the T/Cs been the 80% of the population and demanded ENOSIS with Turkey would that be understandable ?

Just take a look at what Winston Churchill once said:

"I think it is only natural that the Cypriot people, who are of Greek descent, should regard their incorporation with what may be called their mother-country as an ideal to be earnestly, devoutly, and fervently cherished. Such a feeling is an example of the patriotic devotion which so nobly characterises the Greek nation."
Winston Churchill, 17 October 1907.

It appears that as soon as this 'devotion' clashed with the British interest, enosis was suddenly the devil incarnate.

What he said above exposes the hypocrisy of the situation. It was a man speaking his mind. One can view it as a blunder if British/Turkish interests reign supreme and ride roughshod over the Cypriots, as was later the case.

P.S. I know he was human, which means he obviously made mistakes. He also did many great things, which is besides the point. It is amazing how suddenly things change when expediency talks.

While on the subject of Winston, his often quoted:

“All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.”

An old saying but quite apt in the direction this string has taken. The CF is a good forum to discuss and learn other points of view, what is interesting however are the numbers of people that know when they have been shown to be in the wrong by sporting an argument based on no fact yet continue to perpetuate lies. Not all, but too many, are guilty of such action. After a short period you will see different viewpoints often with valid reasoning, but numerous comments of pure racist or machiavellian dogma.
Then you have to ask yourself, are people not learning from their mistakes or are they simply representing what is wise from their own self-serving perspective.
