How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby shahmaran » Sat Aug 07, 2010 11:59 pm

Wait let me get one thing straight!

Are you claiming that your ancestors are the Hittites, is that what you think that makes you an "indigenous Cypriot"?

Or did you just independently evolve to become humans by yourselves on this island?

If so, at what point did you choose to become Hellenic and adopted the language?

Because surely Hellenism must have come here somehow, as it was more existent and spread with the Roman Empire, which clearly did not originate from Cyprus and was definitely not a "peaceful" Empire.

Pay attention. Read what I wrote again, before wasting my time with stupid questions.

I'm sure you can look this up for yourself if you're really interested. The "Koine" Greek lingua franca of the Eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus, would have been established during the Macedonian period.

So your so called "indigenous race" started to mix with foreigners during the Macedonian era?

Which is roughly 3000 years ago, and have been mixing ever since with numerous foreigners, including now.

Yet you call yourself indigenous?

No, before then. You missed out all the others.

Like I said, it's how you act and feel.

Well who decides who is acting right?

According to many over there, I am nothing but a foreign invading murderer and according to many here, you are racist and murdering scumbags.

Well neither of the above mentioned 'many' qualify...

Forgive me... I really ought to add the Jews to my list of overseas invaders/conquerors/rulers/colonisers of Cyprus since 1,500 BC.

Hittites
Assyrians
Myceneans
Arcadians
Phoenicians
Persians
Macedonians
Jews
Romans
Arabs
Byzantines
Crusaders
Knights Templar
Lusignans
Maronites
Venetians
Ottomans
British
Greek military junta
Turks

So how can you claim to be indigenous exactly?

Indigenous Cypriots aren't to blame for what's happened in Cyprus. They are entirely innocent victims.

The only issue I might have with you is that your forebears kept or adopted the customs of the invader for an easier life and to avoid taxes.
