Yeah you can use external drives. It is also for the things that you get with Rockband and stuff.

You can also hack the Wii and get all the games for free if you want

All Wii consoles on the market have Wifi built in and USB slots. All Wii consoles have the same specs. There are only two versions of the Wii out...the black and white versions. The difference is that the black version is bundled with two games and has an extra accessory called a Wii Motion Plus which is an expansion device for the Wii remote.
