If you want 'Turkish' - go to Turkey - NOT Cyprus!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I propose if the crossing is not closed .........

No day trips to n/c (run and advertised by gcs)
all people crossing to declare all cash (as was when you left s/c years ago)
no goods to cross either way
jcc to name and shame any one spending more than 100 euros in n/c
no carpet baggers allowed to fly into s/c then cross to their homes in n/c

then no more agruements ............or withdraw from the eu.........

Yes. If they don't want to abide by EU rules and regs.

Gamblers who cross over to gamble there can spend any amount of money there.

But none of the people going there are breaking any laws. If the RoC wants to make it 'illegal' for GCs, Tourists or foreigners living in Cyprus to go there - then let them do so.

And anyone who thinks it is 'like Turkey' is nuts! If I want the 'Turkish Experience' I go to Turkey. It's more like RoC without so many Brits and tourists in high season. Oh and more litter in the streets. And you stil can't flush looroll down the bogs there!

Some people seem to have forgotten Cyprus is an EU member country now. And EU citizens have rights! Non EU citizens might find they have more trouble crossing over - but in practice it doesn't seem to happen. And Turkish people living in the North are not allowed to come South (not unless they are married to a TC - and there might be some other exceptions).

Remember the whole of Cyprus is in the EU and TCs are EU citizens too.

Well have witnessed exceptions, with a couple in front of us at the crossing about four years ago trying to go north. Part of a large party with loads of Cys.

They were Denied Entry.... their "crime" ? They were Greek Nationals, holders of (mainland) Greece Passports... EU Nationals denied free movement by the Illegal Regime.

Some admit to working in both "zones" yet clearly prefer the Turks, but want the legitimacy of the RoC-EU. Also, those tourist Brits who fly to Cyprus expecting all EU benefits and "cross-over" for tacky Casinos and cheap Turkish jewellery to savour some eastern delights, yet scream at the RoC to supply all their safeguards.

It's time to curtail such expectations. We are a war-zone after all and these EU-traitors should respect our troubled shores ...

It's upto the RoC to decide how it will handle the crossing rules. There are no EU regulations relevant to this.

Let me see.... ''withdraw from the eu".... uhm, wonder if there are easier ways?.... Let me have a look.... erm ......ooh.... what's this?

>>>>>>>>>>> The Green Line Regulations <<<<<<<<<<<

erm.... oh yes.... it's Article 2...

Crossings Of Persons

(The Roc) ....shall carry out checks on all persons crossing the line with the aim to combat illegal immigration of third country nationals and to detect and prevent any threat to public security and public policy.

Threats to Public Security and Public Policy...... can be sooooooo wiiiiiide-ranging and open to soooooo many interpretations.... and all within EU Regs.

I cant deny what you saw, as I was not there. But two years ago I saw two coach loads of young students speaking Greek. On further enquiry I found out they were high school students from Greece visiting the north. I thought it was a good step forward. (not enough though).
