Cameron 'anger' at slow pace of Turkish EU negotiations

Everything related to politics in Cyprus and the rest of the world.

The only good thing about Turkey ever joining the EU would be if these Turk-lover propagandist Brits who are too afraid to live in Turkey but instead mill around Cyprus getting the best of "both worlds", hypocritically all their EU benefits, whilst enjoying fraternising with their Turkish lovers in the occupied sections; if they were suddenly to piss off and go and live in "EU-Turkey".

When Cameron learns to think like a man, and not like a pezevenghis, he will look up and see that EU troops forming the FRONTEX contingent are obliged to patrol the Turkish Greek frontier in the Aegean to ensure that Turkey does not allow illegal immigrants to cross to Greece.

He would also see instead of defending EUs frontiers Turkey is constantly violating them with overflights of Greek territory and incursions into national waters by armed ships pretending to be passing innocently.

But once a pezevenghis......

Oracle - you seem to be as ignorant as ever on this subject besides everything else that does not rhyme with extreme nationalism and EOKA-B! NO ONE IS AFRAID TO LIVE IN TURKEY!

There have been thousands of Brits purchasing holiday homes in Turkey since early 1990's! There is currently a very good demand for property around Antalya all the way to Fethiye on one side and İzmir on the other. SO much so that the construction business to cater for these overseas demands is expanding at an alarming rate.,

Fantastic hotels along the Agean coast and the Mediterranean in the South attract more British tourists than Greece and S. Cyprus put together! I quote:

"Foreign tourist arrivals increased substantially in Turkey between 2002 and 2005, from 12.8 million to 21.2 million, which made Turkey a top-10 destination in the world for foreign visitors. 2005 revenues are US$17.5 billion which also made Turkey the top-10 biggest revenue owners in the world."
http://www.tourismroi.com/InteriorTempl ... 20Research

By 2008 the figure rose to 25 million!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Turkey

Last year (2009) the figure was more than 27 million - of which 4.5 million were Germans. Russian tourists accounted for 2.6 million , followed by Britain with 2.4 million visitors.

In contrast: http://www.athensguide.com/practicalinf ... istics.htm
"Greece comes in the 15th place in the world classification of tourist destinations, receiving 14.179.999 tourists in 2002 (National Statistical Service of Greece, provisional data)."

There must be thousands of Brits currently living in Cyprus, mainly in the villages all along the Northern coastline - mostly retired, but some younger.

You and ED are so fucking naive, it is beyond belief - it is like you've got your thick heads stuck deep in the sands of AghiaNapa!

BigOz,

I'm sure that many Europeans on a tight budget would find Turkey attractive and competative compared to other tourist destinations, the same could be said about those buying property there too, particularly in occupied Cyprus, altough there are big risks attached to this.

However, it does not detract what your average British citizens view on Turkey joining the EU.

Has anyone asked the Turkish public what they want? I assure you, if there was a referandum in Turkey today - majority would wote "No!" to EU. A lot of friggin good its done to Greece and Cyprus South! EU just needs a military power like Turkey to help them out with Afganistan, Iraq, and Iran. They wished...

I can understand Mr Cameron's pain. He is clearly very clever and can see further than most other EU leaders, but I doubt anything can help the sick EU in a foreseeable future. If they are good to Turkey, and stop supporting the PKK terrorists, they may use their islamic influence to bring peace to Iran and Afghanistan - even to Iraq. :D

You don't suppose Camerons statement has anything to do with the withdrawal of Brit forces from Afganistan?

Shouldn’t David Cameron be more concerned with BRITISH WAR CRIMES in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other parts of the world, instead of promoting a habitual violator of international law and Human Rights abuser like Turkey?
