Nikitas, NEVER sugarcoat the bitter truth… the double-union deal was struck between Greece & Turkey, not just someone called “Papadopoulos”!!!

I get very angry when people try to undermine Greece’s treasonous and catastrophic maneuvers against Cyprus!

Excellent point Oracle. Those of us who remember the 1974 events can verify that while the Turkish army was cleansing the north of GCs, the TCs were in fac tliving safely in the south. It took weeks for the British to collude with the Turks and accept the TCs in the base areas as refugees, where ironically order was kept by a mostly GC Base Area police. Then they bussed them to the north.

They could never make such a move the worlds attention was on Cyprus.

Or maybe because they had already tried the whole island before for 300 years, but were not able to hold onto it and lost everything, so they figured they would go for 1/3rd this time around, but still having a bad time legalizing it.!

They also never figured out back in 1974 that the RoC would ever become a full member in the EU with 100% of her territory intact, which now leaves Turkey at the mercy of the RoC for any EU dreams she may have.!

It is obvious in hind sight, that Eçevit was not a very visionary man. All he had at the time was military power, that's all!

It's also weird that he ended up getting overthrown and imprisoned not too long after the invasion! :?

Only because they can't get into the Eu with their present mind set, therefore they can afford to do a lot of grandstanding. If you believe anything else, then they have you and others fooled for sure.!

I wonder if the EU needs to know about this. After all they may wish to know that Turkey isn't interested in EU and therefore they shouldn't waste their time with the TC President when he calls upon them to resume talks.
