Proposals on Famagusta

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby humanist » Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:14 pm

Nikitas we will never have unification because TC's have no idea of the concept. For them its all about take take and get get from who ever is giving. They are doing it with RoC when it suits them, namely employment, health, percs such as passports and they are doing it with Turkey who is paying some f their salaries to keep them under control and oppression. Feeds them propaganda that its the GCs fault and they are happy to go with it. At the end of the day what are we seeing a bunch of people who think they are better than the rest. They feel okay about knowing that they are disadvantaging others, they support casinos and prostitution and therefore human trafficking because I doubt that all the women working in their brothels are there of free will.

Andrea,

I daily read Sener Levent in Politis, just to remind myself that not all TCs have bought the "Turkey carried out the peace operation to save us" line. Levent is not the only one, the teachers union is rebelling, so is the health workers union who refuse to clear settlers for naturalisation. There are still Cypriots over there, although I do not know for how long.

When the Turkish opposition leader called for the colonisation of Famagusta last week, I wonder if they thought this through. Basically the only bait they now offer, having rejected any territorial adjustment, is Famagusta. With that gone there is no bait, not leverage, no blackmail anymore.

Unity, or ENOSIS in Greek, is what we did NOT pursue with Greece, in fact we violently resisted. But you managed to get it to the hilt with Turkey and on top of that you accuse us of wanting to "gift the island to Greece".

Big difference you wanted to gift the whole island which for us meant our death warrant we just want to share and this was only after you forced our hand and we had to fight for survival.

20,000 Tc's can easily fit into a couple of apartment complexes, the other anatolian Turks can go back to the steppes of Turkey.

VP you havea a religious ring to your posts. "You have sinned, you must pay" is the underlying theme.

OK, we have sinned, but the punishment is supposed to be commensurate with the crime. 1974 and the ensuing years are definitely not proportional to whatever sin you attribute to the other side.

Do I detect a hint of mehamet in those views? The precept of total submission of the sinner to the will of the victor?

As for the gifting to Greece etc, the GC community reacted violently to the attempt to impose Enosis, if you believe that the coup was to impose Enosis, which is debatable. How are the TC reacting to the deCypriotisation of the north?

Nikitas I have question, what are your thoughts on this one:

say that some of those corporations you mentioned last week or so that are set up in the 'trnc' what would happen if they chose to pay twice the tax once to the 'current regime" in the occupied areas and to the RoC government because in the EU the whole Island is recognised as the RoC. Where would they import and export would they be able to leave via Larnaca?
