Proposals on Famagusta

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Airports under GC control means nothing to us, we are offering Maraş which is a big loss for us if things go wrong, you offer menial jobs like you do now in the south and just like you did back in the 1960s.

Lets open Maraş under TRNC control and allow everyone who wants to come back back and have all the work carried out by TCs and GCs? how does that sound, in the interim period of course.

If Turkey can also bring down the cost of living as well theres no problem and its about time the public sector was revised and made to function properly they have gotten away with to much for to long.

I have worked hard all my adult life so dont tell me about hand outs, what you offer if Maraş should be handed back are labour intensified jobs, the cream of the profit will again go to the GCs and we will be just workers (qualifications are not important) as we are now in the south, there are university graduates employed and building workers on minimum wage exploited by greedy gc builders, thats exactly how it would continue if Maraş was handed back. The top notch jobs would be challened to gc companies even though tc companies vied for the business as gc would be told to opt for gc contractors or face the consequencies.

Maraş should be reopened allowing previous owners to return but it should be done under the control of the TRNC otherwise if the reins are placed in the hands ofthe gcs we will be pushed to one side yet again.

Mate the economic aspect of Turkey & trnc has nothing to do with me . I can't comment on your comment above.

in terms of your comments about Famagusta yes you will be offered work and that intensifies labour markets. However, I would imagine that the rebuild will be huge and various companies will be invited to tender then I would hope in the spirit of opening of the city will mean that TC companies and only TC companies not Turkish subsidiaries etc will also be able to tender that would mean unity for me.

Then why did you introduce it to your post? you obviously know nothing about it.

Handed back to the GCs dont you think they can if they want work together in order to keep TC companies out? this is a possibility we know all to well and if desired can be manipulated to leave the TCs out in the cold once again. I think it would be better for all concerned if firstly the GC refugees were allowed back to their home to rebuild the city but it should be done under the control of the TRNC.
