BICOMMUNAL FESTIVAL

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Bananiot wrote:GR agrees with you on this one viwepoint. However, you do realise that we are not trying to find solution during this meetings. We go there to meet our friends, valued friends, we do not see every day. We are all basically like minded people and enjoy the company of each other. GR and other cynics are probably more jealous than anything. His kind have just one alternative proposition. War, massacres, loss of life, misery. We are the future viwepoint, they are the past.

What ever make you feel good Bananiot, but at the end each goes to their own side.

It is not about personal feelings. We have always held this stance, steadfast. May be its our upbringing, we grew up to respect each other and none of us has spilled one drop of blood of a person from the "other" community. In fact many a life were saved by personal intervention during tragic times and circumstances. True, we yearn to see our country reunited and if at the end of a meeting we split up and go our separate ways, this is enough motivation for all of us to carry on the struggle for peace.

It is the lack of these types of initiatives, overwhelmed by the dogmatic rhetoric of politicians and media which have driven us further apart than at anytime in the last 6 years.

I applaud your efforts and your right to mingle but 6 years of mingling and we are further away from a solution than we have ever been.

I know, I am very disappointed too, but the alternative is to give up. Something I did not mention previously is that there is total trust between the people that attend these meetings. This creates a wonderful feeling, a kind of unheard of comradeship that runs down your spine like a soothing medicine. Okay, I sound very sentimental right now but the world knows no harm committed by sentimental people.

Sorry to burst your bubble Bananiot but I truely feel people are not genuine and would sell you out for their own benefit at the bat of an eye lid.

I have more faith in people than you it appears. I will not become a cynic at my age and even if a case arises of fake people, I would still give them the benefit of the doubt. But, please bear in mind that we are like-minded people and we share so much.

GR, are you insinuating that "they" referred to your grace?

Personally, I can only make friends with those who observe the rules of Law and do not discriminate on ethnicity, or hold back at gunpoint, away from their homes, so that I can benefit, real or imagined, extra rights!

So, TCs ... you are out of order!
