Obviously you don't give a damn about Menderes speech, you simply dismiss it because it undermines your argument. It clearly demonstrates Turkey's intention. Just as we are told that some GCs considered the 1960 Republic a stepping stone to Enosis, for the Turks it was the first step towards partition/annexation - as you clearly demonstrated in 1974.

I don't need to go back to 1571, there are many examples of Turkish brutality towards Greeks and Greek Cypriots in the last century.

The mindless blame game only serves the enemies of Cyprus and the Cypriots.

Agreed, so let us work out a fair settlement and have none of this exaggerated percentage of territory for one of the many communities of the island. If everyone expects to get twice as much territory as their numbers mandate we will have to import more territory to accomodate us all.

It is the first, the most important, the most vital aspect if we are serious about a LASTING settlement.

If enough of the population feel unfairly treated by a territorial settlement we are going to relive 1963 with more deadly weapons than we had back then.

A rational territorial settlement automatically takes care of most "thorns" that plague the situation now.

Bananiot, you are totally correct, the only reason I bring these points up is to remind the self righteous, who initiate these comments to in order to justify their racism and persecution, that their innocence is nowhere to be found. Note, all my comments are reactive, not initiated.
No one wins these arguments nor can win them, the sooner these fools realise this the sooner we can get onto other real issues. As long as they persist is as long as it will take to find a unified solution, as long as they persist is as long as the solution will remain full partition.

I am in London at the moment. Real story no b.s. take from it what you will. Chatting to my niece last week whose kid goes to a lovely school in north north London. Very bright kid, no politics ever discussed in the house, doesn't even know how to speak Turkish, he asks his dede to bring him back a turkish flag next time he goes to Cyprus. His dede asks why and he tells him the GC kids at his school have been calling him a murderer and thief. This is 2010, his mother, my niece was not even born in 1963 nor even 1974.
My take on it is that if you put out hate you get hate back.

Absolutely! These people have done al lthe damage. They were like this before 1974. The events of 1974 serve merely as a convincing excuse. But, there is the bright side of the story, not all TC's and GC's are like that. Some very strong friendships have been forged since 2003 between GC's and TC's to add to the old ones that never died. The other day I came across a GC girl who is marrying a TC. These are positive things that can lead to better days for all of us.

I know you are right, there are some positive lights out there, but I got very negative about it after the J-Lo affair which I felt demonstrated how many have not moved forward one dot and the mainline politicians on both sides did nothing but fan the flames. Prayers of better times for the future.
